Hi! My name is Ivy Benefield, and this is my 4th year teaching! I will be teaching 7th-grade science! I also coach the CMS Basketball Cheer team. I am a 2012 graduate of Cedartown High School. I was born and raised in Cedartown, and it has always been a dream to do something I love and to help someone along the way.
I absolutely love to go on vacations, specifically to the beach. Reading is my favorite hobby. I have 3 amazing boys: Jay (12), Easton (10), and Bayer (3).
I graduated from Georgia Highlands in 2017 with my Associate's Degree in Human Services and Psychology. I went on to continue my education at Walden University and graduated in 2019 with my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in criminology. After a couple of years working in mental health with children and adolescents, I decided I wanted to work in the school system and be a teacher. I graduated in May 2022 with my Master's in Teaching from Shorter University.
My philosophy of education is that all children are unique and must have a stimulating educational environment where they can grow physically, mentally, emotionally, and socially. It is my desire to create this type of atmosphere where students can meet their full potential. I will provide a safe environment where students are invited to share their ideas and take risks.
