What is FFA?
For general information about FFA, click here. Cedartown Middle School has an active FFA Chapter and the extra curricular club meets once a month on Wednesdays after school in the Ag Science room or lab on the 7th grade hall (rooms 508 & 512).
ALL CMS students are welcome to join club FFA, even if they do not have an ag class. There is a $20 fee per school year, and it includes a T-shirt, & snacks and materials for after school meetings. You can pick up applications from Mrs. Smith or outside room 512 (Ag Science Lab) on the FFA Information Station. All FFA Members are eligible to participate in competitive events outside of school and to attend off-campus field trips and summer camp events. as long as they meet behavior standards and other requirements.

I am glad to be here at Cedartown Middle School. I have been in various roles in education for many years. I managed the Equine Center at Berry College and helped coach their intercollegiate equestrian team for several years after graduating. I also have experience teaching Pre-K 3 in a church preschool, 5 years as a middle school secretary, 6 years as a co-teaching instructional paraprofessional in middle and high school in Spanish, French, all areas of Sciences, along with 7th and 8th grade Social Studies, and 2 years as an ESS co-teacher in ELL. Before coming to Cedartown Middle School, I co-taught ESS students in ESOL/ELA at Calhoun Middle School. This is my fifth year teaching Ag at CMS. I have volunteered with FFA and 4-H for several years, especially with livestock-related teams and clubs, so I look forward to coaching CMS FFA competition teams this year, along with the livestock show team!
I am married to Eddie Smith (37 years!), and we have one son, Bryson. Bryson received his Associate of Science degree in May 2023 from ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College) with emphasis in both Agriculture and Criminal Justice. He will graduate this December (2026) with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, also from ABAC. He has accomplished this while working full-time at the Floyd County Police Department as a patrol officer since 2023. Eddie retired last October from UGA's NW GA Research and Education Center. It's a 900-acre farm in Floyd County that does beef cattle research with over 400 head of cattle and is home to the Calhoun Bull Evaluation Center & HERD Heifer Evaluation Program. Agriculture is truly not just a job but a way of life. We have recently moved to a small farm in Aragon to be closer to school and the Ag Center.
When I'm not busy coaching or going to cattle shows, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, photography, reading, and the Atlanta Braves. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome at Cedartown Middle School!
