I am SO happy to be here at Cedartown Middle School. I have been in various roles in education for many years. I managed the Equine Center at Berry College and helped coach their intercollegiate equestrian team for several years after graduating. I also have experience teaching Pre-K 3 in a church preschool, 5 years as a middle school secretary, 6 years as a co-teaching instructional paraprofessional in middle and high school in Spanish, French, Sciences, and Social Studies, and 2 years as an ESS co teacher in ELL. Before coming to Cedartown Middle School, I co-taught ESS students in ESOL/ELA at Calhoun Middle School. This is my fourth year teaching Ag at CMS, and it's my dream job. I have volunteered with FFA and 4-H for several years, especially with livestock-related teams and clubs, so I look forward to coaching CMS FFA competition teams this year, along with the livestock show team!
I am married to Eddie Smith (36 years!), and we have one son, Bryson. Bryson received his Associate of Science degree in May 2023 from ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College) with emphasis in both Agriculture and Criminal Justice. He is continuing his studies toward a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice while working full-time at the Floyd County Police Department as a patrol officer. Eddie works for UGA on the NW GA Research and Education Center. It's a 900-acre farm in Floyd County that does beef cattle research with over 400 head of cattle and is home to the Calhoun Bull Evaluation Center & HERD Heifer Evaluation Program. Agriculture is truly not just a job but a way of life. We have recently moved to a small farm in Aragon to be closer to school and the Ag Center.
When I'm not busy coaching or going to cattle shows, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, photography, reading, and the Atlanta Braves. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome at Cedartown Middle School!
