Bio

Hello parents!

I am excited to return to the Polk County College and Career Academy as a Law & Public Safety Pathway Instructor and SkillsUSA Advisor for both Rockmart and Cedartown High Schools. I have a BSc (Hons) Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from the University of Phoenix and over 19 years of the following combined industry experiences to support you and your student:

6 years as an educator for Polk County School District

8 years as an educator for Cobb County School District

5 years as a sworn officer for the Powder Springs Police Department serving 3 years on the Patrol Division & 2 years as a Sergeant over the Community Outreach Division & Police Explorers

Additionally, the PCCCA Law and Public Safety pathway has produced a number of SkillsUSA Georgia Champions as well as top three medalists in the areas of Criminal Justice Quizbowl, Crime Scene Investigation, Criminal Justice, Fire Fighting, and Legal Knowledge.

Introduction to

Public Safety

Year 1

Providing students with career-focused educational opportunities in various public safety fields. Each course has elements which cover tactics, methods, and skills utilized by law enforcement and other public safety fields.

Criminal Justice Essentials

Year 2

Providing an overview of the criminal justice system. Starting with historical perspectives of the origin of the system, the course reviews the overall structure. Students will become immersed in criminal and constitutional law and will review basic law enforcement skills. The course will contain a mock trial to provide participants with a first-hand experience of the CJ system. The course will also provide in-depth competencies and components for the co-curricular SkillsUSA student organization that should be incorporated throughout instructional strategies of the course.

Criminal Investigations

Year 3

Providing students with an opportunity to explore the basic processes and principles of an investigation. Students will learn the legal responsibilities and challenges of the patrol officer, investigator, and crime scene technician at a crime scene. Students will learn the importance of preserving and documenting the crime scene along with identification, collection, and processing of evidence as well as the contribution to the criminal investigation.
