Math 8
COURSE OVERVIEW
Grade 8 Mathematics
Eighth-grade mathematics builds on students' understanding of numbers, algebra, geometry, and functions through four major areas: numerical reasoning, functional and graphical reasoning, algebraic reasoning, and geometry. Students solve, graph, and analyze linear equations and inequalities, investigate functions and linear relationships, work with irrational numbers and scientific notation, apply the properties of exponents, and use the Pythagorean Theorem to solve real-world problems. Throughout the course, students apply the Georgia Mathematical Practices, Mathematical Modeling Framework, and Framework for Statistical Reasoning to develop critical thinking and mathematical problem-solving skills.
