About Me:
Dawn Mullis
Teacher for Students with Visual Impairments
My name is Dawn Mullis, and I am honored to serve as the Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TVI) for Polk School District. I graduated Gordan College with a Associate of Science and a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Wesleyan College. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to teach 3rd-5th grades in general education, as well as students in grades K-12 in special education. I also had the privilege of working with students with visual impairments at the Georgia Academy for the Blind. I currently serve the students of Polk School District as their TVI and hold certifications in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, and Visual Impairments.
Outside of school, family is very important to me. I am married to David, and together we have a two son's and a daughter. My son and daughter along with their spouses have the honor to be the parents of my 5 grandchildren, plus one more on the way in December. Soon I will be adding another daughter in law when my other son gets married.
When I’m not at school, you can often find me watching Court TV or anything related to crime scene investigations. I also enjoy listening to true crime podcasts during my commute to work!
I look forward to working with the students, families, and staff of Polk School District and am excited about the opportunity to support our students with visual impairments as they learn, grow, and reach their fullest potential.
