Mr. Jordan Atkins
Hi, my name is Jordan Atkins and I am starting my seventh year of teaching here in Polk School District. I teach Agriculture Education here at RMS. I have a daughter named Sadie Jo Atkins. In my free time, I like to hunt, fish, work with my cattle, and play golf.
Educational Philosophy
As a middle school agriculture teacher in a rural Georgia community, I believe agricultural education should be hands-on, relevant, and rooted in real-life experiences. My goal is to help students understand where their food, fiber, and natural resources come from while building responsibility, work ethic, and problem-solving skills. Through experiential learning in the classroom, greenhouse, and livestock projects, students gain practical knowledge that connects academic content to everyday life.
I strive to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued and capable of success, regardless of background or prior experience with agriculture. By incorporating FFA opportunities, leadership development, and career exploration, I help students discover their interests and potential pathways in agriculture and related industries. Strong community involvement is central to my philosophy, as partnerships with local farmers, businesses, and families reinforce learning and show students the importance of agriculture to our local economy and way of life.
Ultimately, my purpose is to equip students with foundational agricultural skills, confidence, and respect for hard work—preparing them not only for future agricultural programs, but for lifelong learning and responsible citizenship.
I graduated in 2011 from Rockmart High School. In 2015, I graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with a Bachelors in Diversified Agriculture. I a Master’s degree and a Education Specialist in Agricultural Education from Auburn University.
