EPIC is a nonpartisan start-up NGO of policy experts and practitioners, technologists, advocates, and researchers working to accelerate better environmental and public health outcomes. Our programs focus on creative approaches in Water, Restoration, Agriculture, and Technology, and EPIC staff have held government and industry roles ranging from the White House and tech companies, to nonprofits and leading consulting firms. What unites all of us is a shared commitment to speed and innovation.
EPIC's Technology Team is laser-focused on helping government and its partners across sectors use data and technology to do stewardship better, faster, and at scale.
Our theory of change is simple: fostering the enabling conditions for better stewardship outcomes starts with getting the right people, processes, and human-centered tools in place. To that end, we advise and partner with leaders, teams, and collaboratives working in and around government—and prototype new tools, data, and strategies—to tackle environmental priorities.
EPIC's Tech Team leads several talent and workforce-focused initiatives that cluster partnerships, strategy, research, and advocacy in three priority areas:
📚 Research and Strategy Design: We incubate workforce strategies, ideas, and partnerships that government leaders can use to enhance tech capacity.
🚀 De-risking Innovation: We support cross-sector partners working to improve how government uses tech talent to deliver on environmental goals faster and better.
📣 Storytelling: We advocate for better models and policies for using tech talent in government to deliver results across our ecosystems, communities, and environmental priorities.
In practice, there’s lots of overlap across these efforts—but all our tech talent work is designed to help us do one thing well: build the capacity of government teams and their partners to leverage data and tools in service of better environmental outcomes.
Across those priority areas we're actively looking to build partnerships to test, refine, or scale new approaches to tech talent. Our strategy is simple, and anchors to four pillars:
