It is truly a pleasure and honor to be part of the Port of Los Angeles High School family. I have worked at POLAHS for over fourteen years and I am currently in my fourth year as a high school administrator. I am proud to say I am a member of a collaborative team that continually strives to create a safe and rigorous learning environment for our students.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Long Beach and a Master of Arts in Education, from Claremont Graduate University. I am passionate about education, learning and growing as a professional.
On a personal note, my experience with dedicated teachers and mentors motivated me to attend college and enter the field of education. Similarly, as the principal of POLAHS, it is my goal to ensure our students have the opportunity to explore their interests, find success and become productive members of our local community.
Please allow me to take this opportunity to introduce myself to all of you. My name is Felicia Ivie and I am the Assistant Principal at Port of Los Angeles High School (POLAHS). It has been a pleasure working at POLAHS for the past 14 years. I consider myself fortunate to have been given the opportunity to have joined the POLAHS family in 2006 which has provided me the room to grow as a leader.
This year offers new and exciting challenges for all of us. Last Spring, POLAHS shifted to a Distance Learning model due to the pandemic. I am grateful for our school community and how everyone came together to support one another. We have shared many resources to support our school community and we will continue to be your partner through this health crisis. Our teachers and staff have worked tirelessly to provide a remote learning experience that POLAHS can be proud of and you can be assured that our teachers will continue to develop, and change to become more effective.
