This page houses a collection of past and present Professional Development Workshops that I have led, along with a description of the presentation and a folder containing the presentation slide deck and any resources I provided. They will be broken into categories based on topic below.
EQuIP Rubrics and the Common Core Standards
This workshop was presented to all grade 6-12 math teachers and was a discussion on the use of the EQuIP rubric to assess the alignment of lessons, units, and curriculum to the breadth and depth of the Common Core State Standards
Using Posters to Reinforce the Standards for Mathematical Practice in Geometry
This workshop was presented at the AMTNJ Winter Conference 2017. The Standards for Mathematical Practice are integral for successful teaching of the NJ Student Learning Standards for Mathematics. This presentation will discuss using posters and other large-scale group projects to reinforce the use of the Standards for Mathematical Practice within classroom activities.
Using Google Classroom and Google Sites Cooperatively
This workshop was presented to all new teachers and it discussed that Google Classroom and Google Sites are excellent but imperfect tools for use in the integrated classroom, but when used together they can be a powerful combination!
Google Forms and Conditional Formatting
This workshop I co-presented with a colleague, Amy Hover. The focus was how to best use Google Forms to collect meaningful data within the classroom, and how to efficiently utilize and manage the data through the use of Conditional Formatting and basic Equations in Google Sheets
Flipping Your Classroom For Under $50
This workshop was focused on the new idea of flipping ones classroom - where students watch video lectures at home prior to entering class, and devoting more class time to application and practice which is more traditionally given as homework. Assumptions in this model are that it is complicated and expensive to get started, when in actuality it is super easy and affordable, and a great benefit to many students!
