Let me quickly share why my wife, Nancy, my family, my friends and I have committed to doing this.
As my Nancy and I strolled through downtown Orinda, California, on our way to a local restaurant for some music and good company, little did I know that this evening would mark the beginning of a profound unstoppable journey for me.
The scene before me was picturesque, with the charm of a small town nestled amidst the affluence of its residents. However, something stirred within me as I paused to take in the surroundings.
It was a revelation that struck me like a bolt of lightning – amidst the beauty and opulence, I noticed an unsettling trend. A significant portion of the retail stores and restaurants appeared to be closed, their windows shuttered, and their doors locked. It was a stark contrast to the affluent facade that this town projected. It dawned on me that if such a prosperous community was grappling with economic downturn, the situation elsewhere must be dire.
My heart sank as I recalled the plight of cities like San Francisco, besieged by closures, homelessness, and drug problems. I realized that action was imperative. This couldn't be the fate of our community. We had to take a stand.
As a veteran broadcaster, I understood the power of storytelling and the importance of capturing attention. Armed with nothing but my iPhone, I returned the next day to document the closures. But amidst the despair, a flicker of hope emerged. The dawn of artificial intelligence presented an opportunity to amplify our message, to spark a movement.
Inspired by the work being done at Oxford University, I reached out to a friend pursuing an MBA there. His insights opened a door to a world of possibilities. From the pioneering work of Oxford's own Dean, Soumitra Dutta to the transformative narrative storytelling strategy of Professor Eero Varra, I saw a path forward.
The Narrative Storytelling Strategy curated by Professor Varra, transformed his home town of ESPOO Finland into "The Most Sustainable City in Europe (documented by surveys and awards)."
And so, my mission began – a journey fueled by passion and purpose. Today, I stand committed to this cause, driven by the belief that through collaboration and innovation, we can shape a brighter future for all. The journey ahead may be daunting, but with every step we take with the assistance of AI, a new reasoning invention, we inch closer to realizing our vision of a thriving, inclusive community here, along with communities around us, and around the country and the world.

By leveraging the power of artificial intelligence combined with human ingenuity, academic insights, entrepreneurial spirit, and the deep love for the Lafayette community, you envision breathing new energy and life into the city with a relay of Podcast Listening until the race is won.
