The goal of this project is to construct a solar cooker that will get up to the highest temperature so it can melt cheese on nacho chips.
Day 1 -
Ask: What questions must we explore to build a successful solar cooker?
Research: Use the internet to research plans for solar cookers. Why are they constructed the way they are? What do they have in common?
Imagine: Brainstorm a bunch of ideas that you think should be incorporated in a solar cooker. Share your ideas with the class.
Plan: Decide how your group will make your solar cooker. Figure out what materials you will need to bring in for next class.
Day 2 -
Create: You will have one period to construct your solar cooker.
Day 3 -
Test: We will go outside on the next sunny day to test our solar cookers. The team that reaches the highest temperature after 15 minutes will be the winner. But we will all have delicious nachos, so I guess we are all winners in a way.
