Reese's is a unique chocolate brand that originated from The Hershey Company. In the 1920s, H.B Reese an employee of The Hershey Company started making candies in the basement of his home. The rest is history, and the origin of peanut butter cups are a national favorite with over 100 candy bars, spreads, cookies, and cereals. Reese's has continued to be a prominent brand due to their continuous use of social media in innovative and creative ways to promote their product.

Celebrity Appearances: Reese Witherspoon
Reese's only following Reese Witherspoon on Instagram is a great use of marketing via social media. This action brings in more activity on Reese's Instagram account as users will want to see who the only user they follow is. It's witty, and genius considering the similarity of the brand name and the celebrity name. Witherspoon has taken to twitter to respond back and forth to Reese's tweets, and join in on our own puns, which provides great endorsement for their brand, and an opportunity to demonstrate their brand personality.
Reese's & The Twitter-sphere
Although Reese's utilizes all forms of social media listed above, Twitter is where Reese's can highlight their brand personality of wittiness, sarcasm, confidence, and creativity through short, yet effective tweets. Their tweets encourage interaction between users and the Reese's account as Reeses is constantly replying to comments. I feel that Reese's tweets are prepared in order to create a reaction, mostly make users laugh, whether through stand-alone tweets or bantering tweets between Reese's and competitors to stay consistent with their intriguing voice.
Holidays At Reese's
Reese's creates a variety of ads and content via Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram in order to get their followers thinking about purchasing Reese's around the holidays, no matter what season. Reese's does an effective job of marketing their products and tailoring them to each holiday, such as heart-shaped candies for Valentine's Days and Christmas tree-shaped candies for Christmastime, and since you can only get those shaped Reese's for a limited time it gives something for consumers of Reese's to look forward to come each holiday. Reese's also creates content on social media for special occasions such as March Madness and Mother's Day.
Commercials Worth Putting Your Phone Down
You can catch Reese's short, but simple commercials on TV or Youtube. There's usually not a lot of action but they are always aimed to be witty which makes them memorable. They usually are put out during holiday seasons, March Madness, and Super Bowl season. They are also put out to promote new products as well, or just to keep consumers thinking about Reese's candy. A lot of people are probably familiar with their commercials as they have a similarity amongst all of them, and use the same background and the same deep voice in them. I included some newer commercials, and then one made in 2006 featuring race car driver Billy Elliot!
Collaborations
Hershey's and Reese's came out with a shared candy bar in 2018. I did not know until today that this existed and I think this was a perfect collab since they are both from the same company! I think the packaging is great promotion too being that they split the bar between the two candy's brand and design.
Reese's and Chips Ahoy came out with a cookie filled with Reese's pieces in 2010. They also have Chips Ahoy with Reese's cups in them too. Who wouldn't like this?
Reese's partnered with Take5 following Take5's release in 2004. Take5 officially become a Reese's product then as it was purchased by Hershey's.
More Than Just Reese's
Besides having the best creamy, peanut butter chocolate candy ever, Reese's is home to a multitude of products ranging from Reese's Puffs cereal to Reese's coffee. The possibilities and products are endless!
The Reese's Puffs rap slogan is something that I have memorized from my childhood. The commercial with the rap was always on all of my favorite TV channels, and it was constantly playing. I can assume that most of my generation has at least heard this slogan and some can remember the lyrics as I do. This commercial I think is the most successful of Reese's commercials and videos in promoting their products and brand personality. Its fun, upbeat, and catchy.
Unthinkable Innovations
Reese's expands awareness to their company and products by adding onto their base product, the Reese's cup. Then, we as the consumers see ads or new commercials for these specific products leaving us all intrigued on what they would taste like, and where we can get them!
Reese's has been and will continue to be a force in the candy world. From staying on top of trends via social media, interacting with followers, and coming up with new products there's no denying Reese's constant and powerful presence!
