Cayetano Arellano High School, formerly known as the Manila North High School is a public secondary school located at Teodora Alonzo Street in Santa Cruz, Manila, Philippines. It was renamed in 1930 in honor of the first Filipino Chief Justice, Cayetano Arellano.
Orginally known as the Philippine Normal School, it is the first institution of higher learning established during the American occupation of the Philippines in 1901. It gave Filipinos training in the science of teaching through the Act No. 74 of the Philippine Commission. The Philippine Normal School was then converted to Philippine Normal College through the signing of the Republic Act No. 416 on June 18, 1949 during the term of former president Elpidio Quirino and was eventually converted into Philippine Normal University on December 6, 1991. On January 12, 1992, it was elevated into a full-fledged university by former president Corazon C. Aquino and as it continued its leadership in teacher education, PNU was designated as the National Center for Teacher Education by virtue of the Republic Act 9647 on June 30, 2009.
