The Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAEdTech) program of PNU-School of Information and Knowledge Management is designed for individuals who would gain expertise, knowledge and skills in the field of Educational Technology, ICT and Instructional Design.
The program prepares its students to design and develop instructional materials, courseware, learning resources, assessment tools and e-learning environment. Students’ instructional skills will be improved by applying pedagogical perspective in the integration of technology purposely in teaching-learning. They are expected to gain knowledge and application skills such that producing, managing and effective utilization of learning resources such as the visual tools, equipment and the learning environment. Various disciplines are incorporated in this program since technology is now a need in revolutionizing education towards adaptive learning experience.
The MAEdTech curriculum consists of 15 units of core courses, 6 units of pedagogical courses, 18 units of specialization courses, 3 units of elective course, a comprehensive exam, and a 6-unit Thesis.
Graduates of the program are expected to be able to:
• Manifest leadership on technology integration and innovation;
• Manifest competence in the design, development and innovation of curriculum and the learning environment;
• Lead in the creation of learning modalities and platforms;
• Demonstrate innovation and creativity in designing and implementing technologically-enabled educational assessment and evaluation.
• Apply skills in designing and implementing technologically-enabled educational assessment and evaluation;
• Exhibit educational management competencies necessary in designing and implementing an ICT-enabled school environment;
• Demonstrate ability to design, develop and evaluate, through research inquiry, learning opportunities in which theories and teaching principles applied.
• Demonstrate deep understanding of pedagogical perspective of curriculum-technology integration;
• Exhibit technical know-how in the development of instructional materials appropriate for a specific instructional methodology/strategy;
• Apply appropriate teaching practices of curriculum-technology integration;
• Establish personal aspirations for continuous competency development that may lead to further innovations
• Abreast with the latest trend in technology that are essential in the teaching learning environment
• Technology-driven in applying strategies and techniques in teaching.
Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution, with a General Point Average of 85%, 2.0, B or better.
