Institute of Creative Expressions and Human Movement Education (ICEHME)
The Institute of Creative Expressions and Human Movement Education (ICEHME) is an interdisciplinary unit within PNU that focuses on cultivating artistic expression, promoting physical well-being, longevity, and exploring the profound connection between creativity and human movement in fostering and celebrating diverse human experiences and aspirations through music, arts, drama, dance, and human movement.
Overall, ICEHME serves as a unique and transformative academic unit within the university, where artistic exploration and physical education intertwine to nurture well-rounded individuals who are not only skilled in creative expression but also in understanding the fundamental relationship between creativity and human movement.
ICEHME offers programs focused on nurturing teachers who can teach Music, Arts, Physical Education and Health Education (MAPEH) subjects in the elementary, junior, and senior high school levels using an interdisciplinary approach. It also offers graduate programs that provide research opportunities for those in the field to engage in scientific and creative inquiries that will enrich the emerging field of creative expression and human movement. It also encourages research into the field of human movement, exploring the physical, emotional, and cognitive benefits of movement practices. Faculty and students may engage in research projects that examine the relationship between movement and creativity or investigate the impact of movement on well-being.
ICEHME offers students the opportunity to explore the artistic disciplines including visual arts, performing arts, and other relevant and emerging arts that will help students discover the intersection between movement and creative expression. ICEHME places a strong emphasis on human movement education, integrating physical activities and practices to promote not only artistic expressions but also physical health, emotional well-being, and embodied learning. It also encourages cross-disciplinary collaboration, fostering a dynamic and innovative environment where students and faculty from different disciplines come together to explore new forms of expression and learning.
ICEHME places a strong emphasis on personal growth and self-discovery. Through artistic expression and movement practices, students are encouraged to explore their emotions, thoughts, and physical capabilities, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and their place in the world.
Recognizing the significance of well-being, ICEHME may offer wellness initiatives, including mindfulness training, stress management, and movement-based therapies to support the mental and physical health of students and faculty. It actively engages with the local community by offering workshops, performances, and movement classes to promote the importance of creativity and physical activity in daily life. These outreach programs aim to inspire creativity and foster a culture of movement and artistic expression within the community.
Regular performances, exhibitions, and showcases will also be organized by the institute to provide students with a platform to present their creative works and movement-based projects to a wider audience. These events contribute to building confidence and refining their skills.
ICEHME is headed by a Director, who is designated by the PNU President.
