In 1947, as an impact of partition, the present Palta locality was developed with the refugees. From the establishment of P. N. Das College in 1962, History was introduced as a subject in Pre-University and Degree level. That time , the college was Affiliated to Calcutta University. In 2001-02, History Honours was introduced in the college. In 2010, the college was transferred under the West Bengal State University. Since then it was known as a General Degree College affiliated to the West Bengal State University.A good number of students of this Department are well established in life. In 2013, the Annual Conference of Paschimbanga Itihas Samsad was held in this college. Beside this ,a Seminar on Local History was organised by the department of History of this College in 2011. In this connection a valuable proceedings was also published. The department of History is an integral part of P.N.Das college. A. Programme Offered : B.A Honours & B.A GeneralB.
