Programme Content
The programme presents all the principles, processes, techniques and requirements for the focused and integrated management of substantial ad hoc tasks (i.e. projects) by a specific team against planned targets of time and cost, as opposed to functional management. Presentation methods include group work and case studies, and individual and group participation are important components of the programme structure. The following subject areas are covered:
- Orientation to project management and project planning
- Organising for project management
- The formulation of the scope of a project
- Time management for projects with non-repetitive elements
- Cost management
Admission Requirements
No formal tertiary qualifications are required. Participants should have English language competence at NQF level 4 or equivalent, as well as the ability to read and comprehend learning material, write assignments, and follow and participate in discussions on management issues. Mathematical competence is also a recommendation.

The scope and presentation of this programme are aligned with the National Qualifications Framework (NQF) level 8.
Certificate of Competence
On successful completion of the programme (which requires attendance of the classroom-based study block or the Saturday sessions as well as passing of the project plan assignment), you will receive a certificate of competence from Stellenbosch University. Successful participants will also automatically become associate members of Project Management South Africa.
