After deciding on a topic and group, it's time to think about which format you'll use to express yourself and tell your story. NHD projects can take the form of one of five different categories:
-Website - Performance -Research Paper (individual only)
Read up on the category rules for each project and weigh the pros/cons of each medium. For example, posters are limited to 500 of your own words, but websites can have up to 1,200 of your own words. However, websites should contain multimedia that would not be expected on a poster. The best advice is to choose the format that you are most comfortable with and that you think will best tell the story of your topic. That allows you to keep the focus on the history.
Regardless of your project format, ALL projects must adhere to these general rules.
USE THIS NHD RULES CHECKLIST TO MAKE SURE YOUR PROJECT ABIDES BY ALL RULES
Note: PPS History Day Projects only need a process paper if going on to the competition
