The Skillman Corporation allowed a small interior tour this month of the new LJHS to two advanced members of the Plymouth High School career marketing class. The students, juniors Antonio Giron and Ivy Marin, were accompanied by PCSC Superintendent Andy Hartley. Joel Hostetler, the site manager with Skillman Corporation led the tour. Hostetler said, the interior is close to being ninety percent finished. "Crews are currently installing ceiling grid in the office areas and in the academic wings they are putting up cabinetry. They are also installing cabinets in the academic wings of the school and installing gym equipment." Next on the agenda is installing the wood floor in the gym.
The Lincoln Junior High construction project continues to be on schedule and on budget. Wall construction are done in the academic portion of the building. Locker rooms are nearly complete as well and soon lockers and ceiling tile will be installed. LJHS students will be able to start the 2020-2021school year in the new building. Plans are to demolish the existing school except for the areas designated for renovation.

Skillman Construction site manager, Joel Hostetler, taught us a lot about geopiers and the process of what is going on at the construction site this week. This state-of-the-art geopier is making sure the land we are building our new school on is consistent and stable through various soil layers under the surface.
As anyone who has driven by Lincoln Jr. High lately can see the construction of the new Lincoln Junior is well underway. Please be patient through the next two-year phase as construction continues. Parking on the east end of the building has been impacted, therefore it will require some changes to our after-school pick-up and for athletic pick-up as there is limited space for parking. All students should be picked up after school from door #1, in the circle drive. Athletes should be picked up at door #4 on the south side of the building after athletic practices. Please communicate any concerns you should have during the construction with the main office. Thank you for your cooperation.

For the past few weeks crews have been busy unearthing the land that used to be our football and track fields. It feels great to see progress being made just at the one month mark.
Ground was officially broken for the new Lincoln Jr. High School (LJHS) as LJHS students, teachers, administrators, and school board members rolled up their sleeves and took part in a ceremony on May 23, 2018. The new building is currently being constructed just east of the current building.
Fort Wayne architectural firm Barton-Coe-Vilamaa designed the new school with input from current LJHS teachers. Superintendent Andy Hartley says, “Getting input from our teachers on classroom design was extremely important. We had a series of conversations with our staff about natural light, social and collaborative settings, modern and creative workspaces, storage and many more important aspects. The consensus is that we are all pretty excited about what’s to come for our community and students.” The building is expected to be completed in May 2020.
