What is the expectation of parents/guardians for the River Oaks Academy?
Parents/guardians are expected to support the home learning environment and daily schedule. Your child should have a clean,quiet learning space, materials available, and an electrical outlet to ensure the computer is charged. Parents/guardians need to follow-up with their student/s about and monitor lessons, independent assignments, and expected behavior for online learning.
Communication between the school and parents is imperitive in an online learning environment. Parents are expected to respond to communications from teachers and staff regarding their student(s) via email or phone call.
What type of technology will my child need to participate in the River Oaks Academy?
Students enrolled in River Oaks Academy will have a district Chromebook checked out to them. Plumas Lake Elementary School District utilizes GoGuardian for content filtering.
If my child receives special education services, will my child be eligible for the River Oaks Academy?
Yes, students who receive special education services are eligible to participate in the River Oaks Academy. Your child’s IEP team will discuss if any changes to your child’s individual plan and services are necessary to meet his or her needs in an online environment.
What time does the River Oaks Academy begin each day?
Your child's teacher will communicate the class start time. Start times will be around 8:00AM.
What is the expectation for a student’s attendance?
Students are expected to attend daily for whole group and small group instruction throughout the day.
Student cameras are to be turned on and directed at their faces during class live sessions online.
What subjects/curriculum will be taught in the River Oaks Academy?
The River Oaks Academy will be following the same curriculum as the Plumas Lake Elementary School Districtw ith the excpetion of our middle school students who will be utilizing Edgenuity for their curriculum. Middle School students have the opportunity to participate in Electives, P.E. and Enrichment in-person at Riverside Meadows in the afternoons. Elementary students will have the opportunity to participate in VAPA and PE activities with Cobblestone Elementary Students.
Will my child have any textbooks or other materials?
Our Middle School Grades students will not have any textbooks, but will be using Edgenuity, a web-based online curriculum.
Elementary grades students will receive State adopted textbooks and/ or consumable workbooks. These materials will be passed out the first week of school. Additional curriculum and materials will be provided as needed.
Does the River Oaks Academy follow the traditional school year calendar?
The River Oaks academy will be following the same calendar as the Plumas Lake Elementary School District.

How do I enroll my student if we live outside the Plumas Lake Elementary School District Boundaries?
