Alayja Floyd began her volleyball journey in 7th grade under the mentorship of Coach Tabitha Furlong, who quickly recognized her potential and encouraged her to pursue the sport. That early encouragement ignited a passion that led to a nine-year playing career, including five years of competitive travel volleyball.
In high school, Alayja made the freshman team as a freshman and went on to play two seasons of varsity volleyball. Her senior year was especially noteworthy—she earned Second-Team All-Conference honors, was named the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year, and played a key role in leading her team to the winningest season in program history (21–4) in 2018.
Alayja continued her athletic career at the collegiate level, competing for four years at PennWest California as a middle blocker before completing her final year at the University of Wisconsin–Parkside.
