2021-22 Student Financial Aid Application Cycle:

On the state level, the FAFSA serves as the primary application for over $53 million in need-based state scholarships and grants.  Students can apply for the following state programs by completing the FAFSA:

 www.iowacollegeaid.gov

Upon completion of the FAFSA, all Iowa resident applicants will now have the option to link to the Iowa Financial Aid Application directly from their FAFSA confirmation page. Applicants will have the ability to pre-populate most of their demographic data to the Iowa application in the process.  This not only streamlines the federal and state financial aid application process for Iowa applicants but also solidifies access to the Iowa application for individuals who may not be informed of its availability.

Last-Dollar Scholarship

Future Ready Iowa initiative. The Last-Dollar Scholarship pays tuition for hundreds of programs offered at Iowa’s community colleges after applying non-repayable federal and state financial aid. All students in the Class of 2022 need to do is complete a FAFSA by July 1 and enroll as a full-time student after high school graduation.

State Grants and Scholarships

Scholarship and grant funds are available to assist students in paying educational expenses. Unlike student loans, scholarships and grants are considered gift aid and do not need to be repaid. There is a wide variety of programs available through state, federal and private sources. Because each program is different, it is important to read and understand their specific eligibility requirements and application deadlines.

In the fall of the senior year they make presentations about their projects at the Hoover Presidential Library-Museum in West Branch, near Iowa City. Three are chosen to win $6,500 scholarships for a two or four-year school anywhere in the nation.  More information:  800-828-0475 or scholarship@hooverassociation.org
