Announcement for 12/5/2023

Hello everyone. I hope this post finds you well. I am told by Coach Sparks that the middle school is off to a great start. It is wonderful to see good numbers in the middle school program.

Here's some very last minute information. Boys were told yesterday but not parents. Apologies.

Official team photos for wrestling are today at 3:15 in the high school gym. Coach Sparks is gonna use time after school to hand out singlets and warmups. Kiddos will then head to the gym for pics. At the middle school level, picture forms were not handed out. Forms can be obtained on site. They can also be downloaded using THIS LINK. Additionally, they can be ordered online HERE. NOTE: Practice will extend until 5pm today to make up for loss of time with pictures.

The fellas have their first competition this weekend at the Clearfork MS Invitational. Wrestling begins at 10am and weighins are at 8am. In order to comfortably arrive for weighins, the bus will need to depart by 7am. Please make sure the guys have all needed gear. Shoes, headgear, and singlet / warmup. **If they have braces, they must wear a mouth guard that covers top and bottom. This is mandated by OHSAA. It is advisable to pack snacks and such for the day. Tournaments are generally rather lengthy affairs.

Wrestleoffs are taking place currently. Those who win weight classes will wrestle for certain. Those who are in B slots in the weight class might get into the tournament but there's no certainty at this point. It is dependent on number of entries from other teams. Most middle school tournaments accept extra wrestlers in order to fill out brackets. Parents will be notified as soon as possible if extras get in. Efforts will be made by coaches to get as many wrestlers in as possible for all events.
