Announcement For 11/14
Hello all parents,
Here are a few updates as we begin the year.
If your child doesn't have a physical at this point they will need if before they can practice.
If you have not been told by your wrestlers at this point, we are having some issues with the heat in the field house. With that being said, our practice schedule could be day to day decisions until we feel the field house is warm enough for the kids to practice in.
Practice for today and tomorrow will be in the High School bus garage. Tonight- 6:30-8pm Saturday- 8-9:30am
If you have not joined our SportsYou, please join using the code
SMUA-9UU9. I know communication has not been great from me to start the year but it will improve now that the season is starting.
I will post an update on Sundays for weekly projected schedule on here and put it on the schedule tab as well.
We will have a parent meeting within the next couple of weeks, be on the lookout for information about that.
The yearly schedule is on here for you to see.
If any parents have any questions feel free to reach out to me on sportyou or my phone number 614-579-2605. If you are a wrestler and have a question please only reach out on sportyou.

Announcement For 4/1
The PMS wrestling banquet is Wednesday, April 9th at 7:15pm at the high school cafeteria. I apologize for the delay as we had a couple of students take on the state tournament and all go 2-2.
We will only be doing deserts unless parents would like to bring other food items. In order to contribute to the event, please bring some kind of desert.
** I recommend networking with each other on what is being brought. You can also reach me at 614-579-2605 on the topic.
We will also be collecting all singlets and warm up jackets at the banquet so please make sure the kids bring all the singlets and warm ups the have been provided throughout the year.
Please reach out to me with any questions.
Announcement For 2/20
Information for 2/20/25:
Attention all parents,
We will need the kids to come in tomorrow right after school to help lift up the mats in the Middle school room and move them to the correct location. We will be done at approximately 3:15-3:30.
I have a pile of clothes in the room that kids have left over the year, if there is any clothes left over in the room after cleaning it up, it will be tossed. Make sure the kids look through the pile to make sure none of it is theirs.
We will be collecting singlets and warmups. For 7th graders, most of you should be bringing back 2 singlets. For those of you that wrestled in districts (and not continuing on to states) need to bring the white singlets as well.
We are still unsure when we are going to have a banquet, we are trying to figure it out. So, be on the lookout for that update.
We currently have Xander, Brody, and Rocco going to states and Mason as an alternate. With that being said, we will continue to have practices around that 4:30-6:30 ranges of time. If there are any kids that are not going to states and are just looking to get some extra work for next year, you are welcomed to come to get better. Just make sure you have someone close to your weight that you can wrestle with.

Announcement For Week on 12/16
Here are some announcements as we head into this week.
We ended up getting 5th in the tournament the past weekend. Great job to all of our kids.
We will continue to try to get as many kids in each tournament as possible but some tournaments do not take as many alternates.
We will have wrestleoffs again this week. We will be doing wrestleoffs like the high school. For those kids trying to earn the starting spot they will have to beat the current starter twice in order to earn the spot for the weight class. For the kids who have the spot already, in order for them to keep it they only have to win once to keep it. We will do wrestleoffs on Tuesday, if your kid is not at practice, they will forfeit their wrestleoff unless one of the coaches is notified ahead of time.
We will be doing at home weigh ins for this Saturdays tournament. The Wrestling will start at 9. I will get more information out for time to be at the school Saturday. If your kids is not their to weigh in Saturday morning, there will be no chance of your wrestler wrestling.
Monday: 2:30-4:30 in MS Room
Tuesday: 6:30-8 In HS Room (Wrestleoffs)
Wednesday: 6:30-8 In HS Room
Thursday: 6:30-8 In HS Room
Friday: 2:30-4:30 In MS Room
Saturday: Tournament @ River Valley
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.
Announcement For Week on 12/9
Here are some announcements/reminders as we head into this week.
Great Job to all of our kids this past weekend, being able to get all the alternates in was good for experience. I can't guarantee all tournaments will be like that letting all alternates in like that.
Coach Mulvaine and I are perfectly fine if you want to sign your kids out of the tournament but there are a few things we need to clarify.
Coach Mulvaine and I would prefer to have all the kids there all day in order to support teammates but completely understand if you need to take them.
Only the parent of the kid should be signing them out, someone elses parent can not sign your kid out. If no parent is present they will not be allowed to sign out.
You need to ask Coach Mulvaine or Myself if you are good to leave, we had a kid sign out without us knowing and they missed out on their last match. So Please ask one of us before leaving.
For the Tournament Saturday, We will start wrestling right around 9. I will get an exact time that we will need the kids at the school to get on the bus later in the week. Parents who brought something for the kids, Thank you so much. One thing that NU does not allow though is bringing crockpots so please refrain from bringing crockpots this Saturday.
Practice this week will be a little different due to a band concert Tuesday Night.
Tuesday: 2:30-4:30 In MS Room (Due to Band Concert)
Wednesday: 6:30-8 In HS Room
Thursday: 6:30-8 In HS Room
Friday: 2:30-4:30 In MS Room
Saturday: Tournament @ North Union
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me.
Announcement For Rest of week.
Attention all parents, just a couple things to end out the week.
I will know tomorrow about alternates for Saturday's tournament. I'm hoping we can get as many kids in as possible but I can't guarantee that everyone will get the chance to wrestle.
Saturday, we had trouble getting bus drivers for both Middle School and High School Wrestling. High school was able to get one but the Middle school was not able to. With Mount Vernon and Clearfork being in the same general direction, we will be riding with the High School Wrestlers to Mount Vernon and dropping them off, then going to Clearfork. Since we will have to drop the High School off, we will need the students to be at the High School Wrestling room at 5:45 to leave on the bus at 6.
Please make sure your kids has headgear for Saturday.
Thursday and Friday Practices will be right after school.
Announcement for week of 12/2
Here are a couple of announcements for this crazy week:
The kids will get their singlets today and will need them for pictures tomorrow.
Team pictures will be Tuesday, Dec 3rd after school. Picture forms were handed out. HERE is a digital copy in case it was lost.
Practice will look a little bit different this week with pictures, I will place that at the bottom of this post.
Our first tournament is Saturday at Clearfork, We will do wrestle offs on Wednesday to determine our roster. If you had any questions about what happens to those kids that lose wrestle offs, I am going to add what was in the tournament information below. We will need the kids to report sometime from 6-6:15 on Saturday to be on the Bus. For Parents, Wrestling will begin at 10 on Saturday.
From Clearfork Tournament Information : *Extra wresters* Coaches can submit extra wrestlers but they may or may not make it into the tournament. We will allow extras in a weight class up to 16 wrestlers. Once we have 16 wrestlers no more extras will be added to that weight class. We have 20 teams entered in the tournament. If we have more than 16 “varsity” wrestlers in a bracket we will use the 4x5 pool format. However, due to time we will not do 4x5 pools to get extras into the tournament. An email will be sent out on Friday letting coaches know which extras did not make it into the tournament.
Practice Schedule For the week
Monday: 2:30-4:30
Tuesday: Pictures right after school then Practice until 4:30
Wednesday: 6:30-8 (Wrestleoffs)
Thursday: 2:30-4:30

Announcement for 11/29 - Scrimmage & MORE
Hello everyone. I hope your Thanksgiving has been restful and joyful. Here's a few things.
The boys will be leaving at 7am for tomorrow's scrimmage at River Valley. In wrestling scrimmages are ultimately combined practices with live wrestling. No official matches. The folks at RV are asking that parents not attend due to space limitations. The guys will be wrestling on two mats with loads of athletes and coaches in the in the room.
The scrimmage begins at 8am and should conclude by 10am. Plenty of time to get home and watch OSU stomp a mud hole in that team up north.
Reminder... Team pictures will be Tuesday, Dec 3rd after school. Picture forms were handed out. HERE is a digital copy in case it was lost.
That is all for now. Please reach out if you have questions.
Announcement for 11/20 - Parent Meeting
Hello there. Thank you for attending tonights meeting. Here's the topics covered with athletes on the 1st day of practice. I feel it is important to cover these items with parents as well.
TALK – Points of emphasis day #1
· Practice attendance
o No call no show doesn’t happen around here. If you are sick at school, I know a few people you can talk to.
o It is important you are at practice. Only approved absences will be tolerated.
· Communication
o It is unacceptable to be unaware of what is going on. Listen to coaches and be mindful of REMIND, phone, website, calendar, etc.
· You are a #1student #2athlete.
o Issues at school will cause you issues at practice. If that is a problem then leave.
o Grades – if your grades go south you will be ineligible at that most important part of the season. PowerSchool… we can see you.
· Behavior / Culture
o Culture is EVERTHING in the sport of wrestling. Everyone should be comfortable coming to practice without fear of how they will be treated by others. If you become a consistent problem, we will move on without you.
o If you can’t get along with these coaches the problem is you.
o It is VERY important that there is leadership in this room. If there are problems as far as behavior, take initiative. Do the right thing even when no one is looking.
· Work Ethic
o You are involved in the toughest sport on the planet. Not even close. A 4:30 min wrestling match will stretch you to your limits. It is our job as coaches to push you to your 100% and then further. Embrace the process.
· Why are you doing this? What is your why?
o Enjoyment? Competition? Get in shape? Agility training? Better in football? Knowing your why helps you when you are struggling mentally. The mental in wrestling is tougher than the physical. AND it is the toughest sport there is.
o No matter how long you choose to wrestle… You will not regret your involvement this year.
· Standard op.
o Be quick coming to the practice room after school, then efficient getting ready.
o Weigh in. This is tracked for good reason. AND it helps keep attendance. This is everyday. Forgetting to weigh in / out is the equivalent of forgetting to brush your teeth in the morning. Unacceptable.
§ You will not be forced to cut weight. This is an athlete choice. However… if you commit to a weight class, you will be held accountable.
o Starting lineup for tournaments will be determined by wrestleoffs. Coaches always reserve right to make lineup decisions for duals.
· Cleanliness / Sanitation
o You are encouraged to use the field house to shower after each practice.
o If not… It is paramount that you do so as soon as you get home. This helps prevent fungal / bacterial skin infection. If you don’t take this seriously it is lunacy. You become a risk to others.Take used clothes and towels home after each practice. Make it a mission to keep the room clean and tidy.
Pictures are 12/3. This will take place after school. Remaining time will be used for practice.
Our first event is 12/7. We are working hard to get the guys ready.
The calendar is completed for your convenience. PLEASE pay attention to posted announcements for any changes. Usage of the high school practice room may be a fluid situation.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

After that meeting we will have practice from 6:30-8 in the high school room. Thursday practice will be from 5:30-7:30 in the high school room. Then Saturday will be 8-9:30 in the high school room as well. Please remind your athletes that if they are going to miss a practice, they need to communicate with me or another coach. Missing with no reasonable excuse in unacceptable. Also, the kids know this but please try to have them at practice at least 15 minutes early so they are able to get their shoes on by the time practice starts.
