Earning the Male April Athlete of the Month is Track Star Hudson Warner. He competed in 4 meets during the month of April and had 5 first place, 3 second place, and 3 third place finishes. His best long jump was 21 feet, 9 inches. Hudson earned the title: Boy’s Overall Champions at the Elgin Relays.

We are elated to announce April’s Female Athlete of the Month is Katie Jordan. During the month of April, she marked the following stats: .553 batting average, .656 on base percentage, 26 hits, 11 RBIs, and 20 stolen bases. In addition, Katie is currently leading the MOAC in season batting average, on base percentage, and stolen bases. Katie's 24 stolen bases on the season put her at 7th in all of the OHSAA according to MaxPreps.

Earning the Male February Athlete of the Month is Tucker Ludwig.
He was runner-up at the MOAC Conference Tournament with a
628, District Champion with a 712, Second Team All Ohio at the
State Tournament leading the Spartans with a 636, and was ninth
out of the 140 kids that made it to State. Tucker, you are
awesome and great job leading your team!

the sport of bowling, her positivity and approach to team made

she rolled the most important ball of the match - a 10-pin that kept the Spartans going to make a come-back and win the MOAC Title! We are so proud of you, Shalyn.

He had Pleasant’s first perfect game in a match against Highland
and also has raised his average by over 30 pins this year. Carter
is one of the most consistent players scoring for the year. With his
high-performing contributions, the boys team went undefeated to
win the regular MOAC season title!

finishes. At the January 20 MOAC meet, she marked a personal
record at 5:53:21 in the 500 freestyle.

game make him an offensive standout. His game averages of 4.4
rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.4 steals help bolster his team to
success time and time again. His love of the game is evident in
every play while he is on the court.

at the free throw line. Whitney crashes the boards with 7

shots.

Earning the Male November Athlete of the Month is Cross
Country standout Caleb Cameron. At the Harding Invite, he
placed 1st on the team and 15th overall. At the MOAC, he was
2nd on the team and 12th overall. At Districts, Caleb placed 4th
overall and advanced to Regionals, where he placed 13th overall
with a time of 16.29. His success launched him to the State run,
where he clocked in as the 55th runner out of 186 athletes. This
season, Caleb earned 2nd team MOAC honors.

the Month is Cross Country Star Casey Kimball. She placed 7th in
the MOAC and first on her team. At District’s, Casey placed 7th
overall and advanced to the Regional Meet, where she placed
20th overall with a time of 20.04. This garnered her a State run,
where she achieved 93rd out of 185 runners. Casey’s hard work
earned her 1st team MOAC.

Earning the Male October Athlete of the Month is football standout Sam Mentzer. In October, Sam had 28 tackles, 15 tackles-for-loss, 10 sacks, and 1 forced fumble. Sam finished the season strong over the last three regular season games and our playoff game. His impressive action on the field earned him the honor of First Team All MOAC.

We are elated to announce that October’s Female Athlete of the Month is volleyball star Kamryn Cocherl. Kam led the Lady Spartans in the categories of kills, aces, hitting percentage and blocks. Standing at 290 kills in the MOAC, she is currently in 2nd place, 3rd in blocks, 5th in hitting percentage, and leads the league at #1 in aces. She is currently on the prestigious Ohio's Top 50 on OHSAA's Max Preps in the ace and kills categories. She also won Marion Star's Player of the Week Competition in September gathering 67% of the votes.

Earning the Male September Athlete of the Month is football quarterback Owen Lowry. He helped lead the team to a 3-2 record in September. He completed 81 out of 139 passes for 1,153 yards (230 per game) and 10 touchdowns. He ran 58 times for 276 yards and 6 touchdowns. Altogether he was responsible for 1,429 yards and 16 touchdowns in September.

At the first match of the season, Emerson surpassed 1,000 assists; a feat not often seen in a 3-year starter. She currently sits 3rd in assists in the MOAC with 8.8 per set average and she also received the Marion Star Performer of the Week award the first week of play.

Earning the Male August Athlete of the Month is golf standout Dylan Moore. Dylan has played very well and lead the team to 2nd at the Darby Creek invitational with an 84; 1st at Bloom Carroll with 79; 2nd at leg one of the MOAC tournament with 77;
2nd at leg two of MOAC tournament with two his personal bests. Dylan also leads the team with a 39.3 scoring average. He consistently serves as a leader and pushes his team to be better.

We are elated to announce that August’s Female Athlete of the Month is Maura Murphy. She has set MOAC and Spartan records for 9 holes at 31 (-5) and 18 holes at 69 (-3). Maura has been the
medalist in every tournament, and in every match except one. She had the low score in both MOAC tournaments, as well as at the Buckeye Central Invitational, the North Union Invitational, and
the Freddie Invitational where she tied her own Pleasant record with a score of 3 under par. She has done all of this while being unbeaten as the number one girl's tennis player and excelling academically.

Earning the Male May Athlete of the Month is track star Hudson Warner. Hudson placed in four events at the Mount Gilead Invitational and within the MOAC he placed third in the 110 hurdles and 5 th in the long jump. At Districts, Hudson qualified in
two events finishing 2 nd in long jump and 4th in the 110 hurdles. Lastly, he marked his season best time at the Regional in the 110 hurdles. Kudos to Hudson for his bountiful track achievements.

Earning the Male April Athlete of the Month is Nick Swartz. As the
leading scorer for the boys track team, Nick earned high marks in
many events. He took first in the 1600 five times, first in the 3200
four times, first in the 4x800 in four events, and first in the 4x1600
in two events. In addition, he earned third in the distance medley
at the River Valley Relays and second place in the 3200 at the
North Union Invite. Kudos to Nick for his well-rounded distance
running achievements.

scorer for the month of April. Winning the 300 hurdles at four
events; the long jump at two events; and the 4x100, 4x200, 4x100
hurdle relay, long jump relay, and shuttle hurdles at one event –
Taydon continues to be a multi-skill track asset to the team. Her
impressive contributions to the track team at many events earned
her the title of Athlete of the Month.

The Male Athlete of the Month is Wrestling phenomenon Brandon
Mulvaine. He reached the 100-win milestone this season marking
a significant triumph. At the tail end of January, Brandon won the
Sally George Invitational with a 4-0 record under the spotlight.
This was his 4th time in the Sally finals, but first time winning it
and did so in exciting fashion. Brandon had an impressive 13-5
record from January 27 to March 3. He was first at the Sally,
second MOAC, second at Sectionals. He is a 3x District qualifier
and most recently he earned State alternate status by placing fifth
at Districts.

MOAC tournament, helping her team achieve second place.
Breahna placed eigthth at Sectionals. Her third place at Districts
bolstered the team finish to third as well, which is the highest
finish in school history. Breahna’s success and athletic
contributions were consistent throughout the season.

The Male Athlete of the Month is Bowling standout Nolan Ludwig. Nolan led his team in Sectionals with a 565, marking him in the 10th place. He made his way at Districts earning second place with a 680, and 4th at the MOAC Championship with a 614. This work helped his team make a second state appearance, too. Nolan’s contributions to the bowling team this season were outstanding.

player. During the season, she averaged 8.8 points per game, 6.9
rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 2.5 steals. She earned 2nd team MOAC

contributions and team spirit this successful basketball season.

Jenna cracked two school records at the MOAC Meet on January 21 earning first place in the breaststroke at 1:09.9 and second place in the 200 individual medley at 2:19.4. Jenna consistently outpaces her competitors giving her first and second place finishes throughout the season.

His impressive season through December has earned a first place finish at the John Brown Memorial Invitational, wins against league rivals at Galion and Clearfork, 10 wins and 0 losses at the Frickar’s Duals at Defiance College, and a 5th place finish at one of the top high school tournaments in the country. For the month of December, Dax had an outstanding record of 21-2! He has collected 11 pins and 2 tech falls, scored 47 takedowns, and is a returning two-time OHSAA state placer.

As a sophomore on the team, Avah is adding value at a varsity level, helping the Lady Spartans achieve a winning 13-3 record in the season.

It is with great pleasure we recognize the current Pleasant Athletic Booster Volunteers of the Month, Kortney Cleveland and Justin Peterson.
Both have stepped up this school year by serving as coordinators of the youth girls and boys basketball teams. Not only did they prepare pre-season requirements such as sign-ups and schedules but they also both coach teams.
Kortney helps develop Spartan culture by posting all youth schedules and game results on social media, celebrating the good work by our young athletes.
Justin extends his assistance by providing support to the Little Dribblers program organized by the Lady Spartans basketball program.

At the summer Universal Cheerleaders Association camp, he was 1 of 5 recognized for the All American Cheer Award. Lastly, Landon was an instrumental part of implementing stunting skills into Pleasant’s Cheer Program.

It is with great pleasure we recognize the current Pleasant Athletic Booster Volunteers of the Month, David & Nikki Columber.
Dave and Nikki are very generous when giving of time and resources to the Pleasant Athletic Community. You can often find Dave keeping a score book during basketball competitions. Nikki fills in for team meals and concession shifts when no one has signed up.
In addition, Dave and Nikki donate various items needed by athletic programs. Lastly, Dave was an integral part in helping to launch the recent Athletes of the Month program through the Boosters.
It takes a village to be a strong athletic community and Dave and Nikki sure do their part and more! Thank you both for having a giving and engaging spirit.

Earning the Male October Athlete of the Month is Owen Lowry. His play the last four football games was outstanding and notable. He was 50 for 95 for 547 passing yards with 4 touchdowns and no picks. He had 58 carries for 244 yards and 7 touchdowns. Owen was a significant reason our Spartan offense demonstrated improvement late in the season. Earning the Male October Athlete of the Month is Owen Lowry. His play the last four football games was outstanding and notable. He was 50 for 95 for 547 passing yards with 4 touchdowns and no picks. He had 58 carries for 244 yards and 7 touchdowns. Owen was a significant reason our Spartan offense demonstrated improvement late in the season. October’s Female Athlete of the Month is volleyball standout, Lexi Olt. She was voted First Team for both MOAC and Central District. Representing Pleasant, she played in the Central District All-Star Game this month. Lexi is known for her power swings from the outside and finished third in the MOAC with a whopping 247 kills. An all-around player, she marked 259 digs and 29 saves – leading the team in kills, digs, and saves. Lexi is described as a leader on and off the court and continued to be a force throughout the season. She led the charge for Pleasant volleyball to continue the tournament run into the District Final, a first in four years.

It is with great pleasure we recognize the current Pleasant Athletic Booster Volunteer of the Month, Melodie Little. She has been an integral part of the wrestling program as a volunteer for a very long time.
Melodie has served as lead statistician and does video work for the program. She travels with the team and donates a significant amount of her time. Melodie is a nurturing presence for coaches and athletes and is held in very high esteem amongst the wrestlers. Whether it be athletes or coaches, she is revered and will only be known as "Mrs. Little."
Coach Joe Robinson shares, “Mrs. Little has made my life as a coach a ton easier. She makes me look a lot better than I am. Wrestling season is very long and labor intensive. She operates with a kind, caring, and generous heart. She loves the wrestling athletes as if they were her own. She is amazing.”

Cross Country Runner Will Lichtenberger led the Spartans by finishing first on the team four times in the month of September, in addition to a 2nd place finish. His top-notch accomplishments also include a best time of 17.20!

Golfer Dina Shah scored an average of 35.4 for the month, par or better in three tournaments. She earned a medalist title at the MOAC conference championship and Lady Colt Classic, in addition to being runner-up at the Olentangy invite. Dina also shot a 78 at Dennison during the Rodney Butt Boys Invitational. Her accolades continue as she led the team in scoring (3rd overall) in the Sectional Tournament, earning a spot in the District Tournament where she recently finished 2nd overall.

Meet our September Pleasant Athletic Booster Volunteer of the Month!
Mike Murphy has been very giving of his time. He announces every home football game, and he makes the playlist. He is awesome! He cues up music at just the right time and does a fantastic job of being a professional on the mic. He has announced our football kickoff night and our meet the team night. In addition, he has supported the football program in a variety of ways including raising money, cooking for the players, and helping with water sprinklers on the practice field. His son Conner was recently injured, and Mike has continued to show his support. He is a devoted member of the Pleasant Local School District and truly cares about the kids. Our Friday nights would not be the same without him. He is one caring and giving member of our community.

Connor Smith has led the football team in crushing tackles this season so far with a whopping 68 hits! His diligence in game film studies and preparation is notable. He maximized opportunities this year to grow as a football athlete and in turn, has provided the team with great leadership on defense. Let’s give Connor Smith his well-deserved kudos!

Maura Murphy who is doubling up by playing golf and tennis this fall was a medalist at the Freddie Golf Invitational and finished at first place out of 80 competitors with an even par. Maura also earned an impressive fourth-place finish at a boy's tournament, the Panther Invitational, with a score of 78 from the blue tees. With an August scoring average of 38, let’s congratulate Maura on a phenomenal start to the season and on earning August’s Spartan Athlete of the month.

There are many individuals who selfishly give their resources, time, and talents to better and serve our student athletes. In August, Brenda Leikala stood out. She volunteers many days and hours taking high quality photos at Spartan sporting events. What is notable is that she captures various sports – soccer, cheerleading, volleyball, and football in addition to school events such as pep rallies. She is inclusive of freshmen, JV, and Varsity, along with kids who sing the national anthem and band performances. Photos are shared on social media for all to enjoy. Let’s give a round of applause to Brenda Leikala, our August Athletic Booster Volunteer of the Month.
