Welcome Message

Welcome to 8th grade Language Arts. My name is Ms. Sweet.

This is the start of my twenty fifth year, and something tells me that this is going to be an extremely memorable year for all of us. I have been teaching at Hart Middle School for the past twenty three years. In the past, I have taught 7th grade block as well as drama. I received my Bachelors degree from Westmont College in Montecito, CA (close to Santa Barbara), and I received my teaching credential from Saint Mary's College just up the hill in Moraga, CA.  I have never ever wanted to be anything other than a teacher. I just never thought I would end up in middle school. I actually wanted to teach fourth grade (no thanks). Middle school aged students are my most favorite age. 

In my spare time, I like to exercise, read, cook, listen to music, dance and travel.  My favorite type of exercise is cycling or swimming. I don't have a favorite book. I have many favorite books, but. I do enjoy realistic fiction and suspense. Cooking is therapy for me. I especially love cooking for other people. I listen to all kinds of music, and if we were in a normal classroom, I would be playing music all the time. For those of you who know me well, know that I love to dance. If we are able to go back to the classroom, I am bringing back Friday dance day. My favorite place to travel is Maui. I usually go once a year, but sadly, this will be the first year I won't be seeing that majestic island. 

This most definitely is going to be a fabulous year for us all, and I can promise you this. I am right here with you. Communication is key, and if there is ever a time you are feeling overwhelmed, please let me know. We are a team, and if one of us isn't doing well then all of us aren't doing well. We need to be here for each other and make this virtual classroom the BEST it can be. I CANNOT wait to get to know each and everyone of you!! XO
