What is AVID?


AVID is a program that is designed to increase schoolwide learning and performance. The mission of AVID is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society.

What AVID Does

  • Teaches skills and behaviors for academic success

  • Provides intensive support with tutorials and strong student/teacher relationships

  • Creates a positive peer group for students

  • Develops a sense of hope for personal achievement gained through hard work and determination

Who is an AVID Student?

  • 2.0 and 3.5 GPA

  • Average to high test scores

  • Appropriate classroom behavior

  • Good attendance

  • Good work habits

  • The parents and the student have the motivation and desire to prepare for entrance to a four-year college or university

  • Are willing to commit themselves to studying and homework each night
