Thanks for your patience as we've been working with the district to obtain clear guidance on having parent volunteers on our Donlon campus. The following protocols are now in place per the district office:
ALL volunteers must complete the 2021-2022 Volunteer Clearance Form. Once this google form is submitted and cleared through the Pleasanton Police Department (PPD), PUSD human resources will send the NEW Volunteer COVID Vaccination Verification form to the cleared volunteer. Once the volunteer has completed both processes, Donlon will be notified. PLEASE NOTE: All volunteers interacting with students MUST submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination. There is no option to test instead of providing proof of vaccination.
In the past, only field trip chaperones needed to be cleared through the PPD. Current protocols require ALL volunteers to go through that step, even if they are helping in the classroom or doing Wednesday folders. Only those who are cleared and able to submit proof of vaccination will be able to help out in the classroom or chaperone field trips during the 2021-22 school year.
THANK YOU FOR KEEPING EVERYONE HEALTHY WHILE SUPPORTING OUR SCHOOL!
ALERT: SAFETY CHANGE FOR BACK OF SCHOOL!
Arrive not later than 3:00 if using the back of Donlon (Payne & Denker) for pick up after school
(and reach the gates by 8:14 to start school)
It's a great choice to use the back of our school for drop off and pick up! This pick up area is for children who can be relied upon to see your vehicle and walk the path from the back of school to where your vehicle is waiting (or, you can walk up to the back gate to get them).
We have had several students in the back of the school without a ride well after supervision is over at 3:05 p.m.. Moving forward, our teaching staff on duty at the back gate will have students wait on the Donlon blacktop until they see you (or your vehicle) and promptly at 3:03 p.m., will lock the back gates and have any remaining students walk with them to the front of school. In this way, no students will be left unattended.
You must be visible to your student not later than 3:02 p.m. at the back of the school, or you will need to go to the front of the school to meet your child.
Please note that in the morning, children must enter the back gates not later than 8:14, as our staff must leave immediately at the bell to meet their students in the classrooms! (Children reaching the gates after 8:14 should walk along pathway (near parking lot) to the front of the school for entrance).
SAFETY
Drivers:
Turning left as you exit our front driveway is NOT ALLOWED during morning drop off or afternoon pick up times. Thank you for obeying the marked traffic rules (there is a "no left turn" sign at our exit) during the noted times.
Do NOT use your cell phone while driving.
Drive SLOWLY and carefully while in our lot or on nearby streets.
If you are upset, stop and remember that everyone is doing their best for our children, do NOT get into an argument in front of our children!
Walkers: (including those who park and walk):
USE THE DESIGNATED CROSSWALKS ONLY! During drop off and pick up time, do not walk across Dorman unless at the crosswalk at Roslin or the crosswalk at Homer. This is called "jaywalking" and is illegal behavior.
Within our parking lot, USE THE DESIGNATED CROSSWALKS ONLY! When walking to your parked car, stay on the raised walkways, do not walk between the parked cars. Do not walk through the parked cars as a short cut to walk back to Dorman.
Note - there is NO CROSSWALK across the exiting line of cars - walk around the lot, not across the traffic.
Bikers/Scooters/Skaters:
Follow the same rules as for walking.
Get OFF of bike/scooter/skateboard and walk it to cross intersections
Get OFF and walk when around pedestrians on the sidewalk.
We would MUCH prefer that you or your child are a few minutes late than to be injured (or to cause an injury).
Congratulations to all of our students who boldly entered the
PTA Reflections art contest!
