Pleasanton Virtual Run for Education:
Registration is now open for PPIE's 10th Annual Run for Education,
Parents who are planning to register their children for Kindergarten, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) or grades 1 through 5 at Donlon Elementary School for the 2022-23 school year are invited to drop off their enrollment applications and associated paperwork.
**PLEASE DROP ALL COMPLETED ENROLLMENT PACKETS IN THE BROWN MAILBOX OUTSIDE THE FRONT OFFICE**
For detailed information outlining the steps for enrolling new students, click here to go to the PUSD website.
Parents of current PUSD TK students DO NOT need to complete the online enrollment. TK students who will be attending Donlon for Kindergarten next year will automatically be transferred to us.
Enrollments received after February 28th are received on a first-come, first-serve basis. If Donlon does not have space remaining in that particular grade level, the student will be overflowed (placed) at one of our other PUSD schools.
Registration for our before and after school program must be submitted separately to Donlon Kids Club. Click here for their website.
The Alameda County Office of Education received at-home test kits from the State (supplied by FEMA) to be distributed to students and staff prior to the start of Spring Break. PUSD was given one at-home test kit (2 tests) for each student and staff member.
During the week of March 28th, PUSD will be distributing CareStart at-home Covid test kits along with instructions for use to students and staff members. These Covid tests are to be used at the end of Spring Break as students and staff are returning to school. The tests are a different brand than those distributed over Winter Break, but they work in much the same way. The recommendation is for asymptomatic students and staff members to test on Sunday, April 10th or Monday, April 11th in the morning before school starts. Everyone should test again 2-3 days after returning to school. Should a student or staff member develop symptoms during the break, they should use the first test 24 hours after symptoms begin and, if negative, use the second test kit 2-3 days after the first test.
Donlon At-Home Test Kit Distribution: Students will be given test kits from their classroom teachers (one per student) before the start of spring break.
PARENTS / GUARDIANS OF CURRENT KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS:
Please drop off your child's completed Dental Health Form (linked here) by May 31st in the Donlon Health Office, or email a copy to our Health Assistant, Jamie Tompkins, at jtompkins@pleasantonus.net.
ALL children entering first grade are required to have a Health Exam completed by their doctor. The exam can be dated up to 6 months before starting Kindergarten, and no more than 90 days after entering first grade. Students who will be in first grade during the upcoming 2022-23 school year who have gotten their medical exam but have not yet turned in the Health Exam form, please return the completed form to jtompkins@pleasantonusd.net, or drop it off at the Donlon office.
The due date for submitting the Health Exam for next year's first graders is by November 11, 2022. Click here for a copy of the Health Exam form.
Parents of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders: Directions for Viewing the PUSD MAP Family Report can be found at this link. (please note, students In our special day class do not take the MAP assessment).
Please use the Student Illuminate Portal to view your child’s report cards. When using their district issued device with the Google Sign-On feature, students no longer require a unique password and so parents/guardians can log in through this feature to view all student report cards. Please use your child’s district issued chromebook or have their PUSD Gmail address which you can find on Q. Please ask your child's teacher for their password if you need this information. We are hopeful that this will streamline access for parents/guardians to their child's report card.
Thank you Donlon PTA!! Our amazing PTA showers our staff with kindness - the monthly breakfast snacks are so appreciated. We also thank the PTA for organizing the fun read a thon with books provided to our students! Thank you to parents for volunteering on Fun Fridays so students have some different recess games to play. And a huge THANK YOU to the International Fair parents who put together the best week of fun and learning! The google map with student creations is amazing, the video talent show is inspiring, and the craft and arts at lunch recess were such a hit with the students! (see photo)
Some Donlon students were able to help train Dog Detectives! Through a program funded by the CDC, Scarlett and Rizzo (pictured at left) practiced smelling for COVID. Pleasanton Unified is participating in this amazing program - and yes, the dogs really can detect COVID.
Our School Plan for Student Achievement for 2022-2023 school year has been approved by the School Site Council - please take some time to review our goals for next year.
