Hello Donlon Community,
Halloween will be observed on Wednesday, October 31, which is also a LATE day at Donlon. There will be a school-wide costume parade on the sidewalk around the back field starting at about 9:40 a.m. Please plan on standing on the field (or bring a lawn chair) to watch the parade.
In order to ensure acceptable practices for this event, please follow these guidelines:
* If choosing to wear a costume, student will dress at home and wear their costume to school.
* Costume choices should be safe and age appropriate (no foul language or adult themes).
* No toy guns or replica weapons - if these come to school, they will be held in the office until the end of the school day for parent pick up.
* Costumes and masks that depict results of violent acts or disturbingly grotesque images are not allowed.
The library will be available for students who do not wish to participate in the parade.
If you are coming to the parade, please park your car on the street due to limited onsite parking and crowded conditions. PLEASE DO NOT PARK CARS IN THE LOADING AND UNLOADING ZONES, THE KIDS CLUB LOT, OR HILL-N-DALE PRESCHOOL LOT. Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and fun holiday event!
ALSO Please note:
Thursday, November 1st is a Minimum Day for all grade levels. Kindergarten students will attend from 8:25 am - 12:05; First through Fifth grade students will attend from 8:25 am - 12:40pm.
Friday, November 2nd is a staff-only work day - no school for students.
Friday, November 9th is a minimum day for 4th and 5th graders only! This is a regular day for all other students.
Once again, our Donlon community came together to support others. After all classroom yellow buses were emptied, and al of the coins, bills, and checks were counted, Donlon donated $1902.42 ! This is enough to purchase 12 wheelchairs!
The Wheelchair Foundation will travel to Oaxaca, Mexico this spring and to Columbia in the summer to deliver wheelchairs to those in need.
Way to go, Donlon!
Please have conversations with children about maintaining safety in our classrooms and in our eating areas. Some students are so allergic to nuts that even touching residue can cause serious and potentially fatal reactions. We have nut free tables in our lunch area, and NO NUT PRODUCTS can be brought to these tables. Additionally, all of our classrooms are nut free areas, so if snacks are consumed in the room, they must not contain nut products. Thanks for helping everyone stay safe.
Join us on Monday, 10/29 at 8:17 a.m. at the lunch tables, where two of our student leadership officers will dye our administrators' hair Donlon blue!
