If you need to drop off lunch for your child, no need to come into the office! We have a drop off station set up next to the front door, with post-its and pens for you to identify your child's lunch. Campus supervisors will bring the lunches to the eating area before the start of lunch.
Please update ALL health information in your child's registration files online. Information from your online registration is used to communicate health needs to staff and needs to be current.
Hot weather reminders: Please remember to send your student to school with plenty of water. Sun screen and hats for recess are also helpful.
Donations: If you have any GENTLY USED elastic waist shorts and pants to donate, we would appreciate them in the health office for occasional emergency use.
As a reminder, the Scholastic Fall book fair will be taking place this week 9/11-9/14/18. The book fair will be after school on T/W/TH from 3-4 pm and run in conjunction with the Ice Cream Social on Friday from 5-7 pm. All of the proceeds from the fair will go back to the school for teachers to purchase books for their classroom libraries! Be sure to check out the teacher bins along the computer wall where you will be able to purchase additional books that the teachers would love to have. These are a great way for your students to donate to their classrooms. We hope to see you all there!

is coming to Donlon September 24 - 28th! Organized by the Special Needs committee, this fun-filled week of activities promotes awareness and student education about how to accept, support and understand their fellow students. To make this week a success, we need lots of volunteers to help with hands on student activities that simulate different abilities during Science Lab and to read to students during their library time. Training and instructions will be provided. Please feel free to sign up for multiple times and activities.

Thank you for making this important week a success!
We are in urgent need of parent volunteers from each classroom to sign up as our Fun Run Class Coordinators. This position is usually covered by our Class Room Parents, but with the event being so much earlier in the year we do not have Room Parents in place for many of our classrooms. Fun Run Coordinators will help make sure their classes are prepared for the Fun Run, helping the class the day of the event and tallying laps when the race is over. This is such a fun day for Donlon Students and is one of our largest fundraisers of the year. Please help if you can!

Thank you,

All volunteers have to be cleared each school year to be on Donlon's campus to ensure the safety of all of our students. Clearance is required for helping in classrooms, helping at school wide events and even for field trips. Please allow for a few weeks for clearance so the sooner you can get the information in, the better. This also is needed for each family member individually. Thanks for taking the time to volunteer to help our school.
September is Attendance Awareness Month, because absenteeism in the beginning of the school year can predict poor attendance throughout the school year. Studies show that students who miss 2-4 days in September were 5 times more likely to be chronically absent than students who were absent fewer than 2 days. Parents can support their students by encouraging them to start the year off strong with consistent attendance to set them up for success throughout the rest of the school year. See document below (in 4 languages) for more information about attendance and success.
A student who misses 10 days or more during a school year is 20 percent less likely to graduate from High School and 25 percent less likely to ever enroll in college.
If there is something that is preventing your student from attending school, you can reach out to your school’s Child Welfare and Attendance Liaison (CWA). Part of their role is to help you overcome obstacles that stand in the way of attendance by troubleshooting issues and connecting you with resources in the community. As a district, we value attendance and want to partner with you in getting your students to school. If you have any questions or concerns about your child's attendance, please contact your school's CWA, Kelly Mills kmills@pleasantonusd.net or (925) 461-6634.
