As part of our ongoing commitment to listening and engaging our school community in how we best serve our students, we are getting ready to launch our 2nd annual School Quality Stakeholder Survey. We will kick off the survey the week following Spring Break, which will be open for all PUSD families, staff, students in grades 6-12, and new this year, community members.

Recently, news reports and rumors have circulated about a widely debunked online game called the Momo Challenge, which encourages young children to engage in dangerous behavior. While we don't believe the Momo Challenge is a threat or a concern, and there are many sources pointing to it as a hoax (The Atlantic, BBC, Snopes, Forbes, National Online Safety), we do believe it opens the door to a conversation about online safety.
No matter how diligent we are, it's challenging to be fully aware of what our students are doing online at all times. This reminds us that as our students have increased access to electronics and online content, it is important to stress safe and responsible use and can provide an important opportunity to speak with your child about digital citizenship and digital literacy.
PUSD Technology Integration coaches have compiled helpful resources for families around these topics to help students be safe and responsible with their devices and online activity, as well as to help discern fact from fiction when looking at online content. We encourage you to talk with your children about what content they are accessing online and how to protect themselves online.
When talking to your child, it is helpful to:
- Listen to your children when they express fear or worry about content they see online. Be aware of what websites your children are visiting.
- Let your children know they should ask you before doing any online “challenge”, or responding to any request by anyone online
- Explain to your children that not everything they come across online is true or accurate, and that some materials are deceptive or entirely false.
As a school district, we take steps to limit our student’s access to inappropriate content when they access the internet at school or on school-issued devices. We utilize a variety of tools to ensure that only appropriate content is available to our students, including YouTube Restricted Mode, Google Safe Search, and other methods to filter content.

As we start preparations for the 2019-20 school year, we are collecting expected enrollment numbers. Please contact the Donlon Office if you are planning on moving out of the Pleasanton School District for the 2019/20 school year. You can either come into the office to complete a moving form, or you can let Mrs. Simons know in writing by emailing rsimons@pleasantonusd.net with your student’s name, teacher, last day at Donlon and where your student(s) will be moving to.

Beginning in 2019, the California Department of Education has made changes the way in which testing information is distributed. Instead of mailing paper reports to parents and guardians, Student Score Reports will be made available through the Parent Portal in our Student Information System, ‘Q’.
