Robotics clubs are a great way for students to learn about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in a hands-on way. Robotics club can also help you develop 21st century skills like innovative thinking, effective communication, and collaboration.
Each year varies based on members and goals set by the club.
Here are some activities you can do in robotics club:
Build robots
You can build your own robots or projects you bring in to apply your robotics knowledge and skills to your own ideas and interests.
Program robots
You can learn about programming, such as Javascript, Python or C++, which can be useful skills for aspiring mechatronics and software engineers. You can also use programmable robots to create commands and see how they react.
Participate in competitions
You can participate in interactive competition platforms where you can design and build robots to compete against opponents in a series of challenges. This may require joining other paid organizations and attending events outside the club time. Certain competitions may or may not be feasible.
Use robot simulators
You can use free simulation software to design and race different robots, such as squishy robots inspired by animals and animal movement.
When is Robotics Club? Scroll to the top of this site. That meeting date, time, and location info will be kept as current as possible.
What do you do during Robotics Club? It will vary from meeting-to-meeting. Sometimes there will be information. Often there will be an activity. The activity may vary from student-to-student depending on what they are trying to get done. Most of the activities involve robotic related hardware and computer science software.
Is there a cost for membership? Not currently. If you do an outside of school competition you may need to pay something including travel costs.
Can I list it on my NHS appliation? Yes.
Can I be a club officer? Yes. Just ask about the opportunity in person so we can have a conversation first.
What are some other things I can do to help the club? Visit the middle schools to recruit. Mentor a HAL or other district elementary club. Attend 8th grade activity night (Titans of Tomorrow), the first day for 9th graders activity fair, and other promotional days.
Can you get "kicked out" of Robotics Club? Yes. Any individual not conforming to the PLSHS Student Handbook, Titan Way, exhibiting gracious professionalism or daily meeting requirements will be removed from Robotics Club.
