The girls golf season is in the fall in the state of Nebraska. The first meet in the middle of August while the state tournament is the second Monday and Tuesday in October. The PLHS Girls golf team has become one of the top golf teams in the state of Nebraska over the last several years. Since September of 2012 the girls team has not finished lower than 4th at any tournament they have played in and that includes the state meet. The 2016 Monarch girls golf team won the class A state championship which was a first for the school. During the last 4 years they have won three Metro conference championships, 3 district championships and a state runner-up to go with the 2016 State championship. There is a commitment to getting better with the girls on the monarch golf team and that shows in our success. Many of our players play in NJGT golf events or NGA events. The NJGT is the Nebraska Junior golf tour and there are 30-40 tournaments held each summer. These tournaments are all over the state and allow the girls to compete against some of the state’s best players. The NGA is Nebraska’s branch of the USGA. It holds all of our state championships for amateur golf. We strongly encourage that our girls compete over the summer to get ready for our season. Many of the players that do come to us as freshman are just starting the game and we work hard to get them better and encourage them to compete as much as possible. We feel that our girls are given some great opportunities by the schedule we play both on the varsity and JV teams. Our girls play against the best teams in the state and we strive to be completive at each one of those meets.
