The Papillion-LaVista cross county program has a strong tradition.  Since its inception at PLHS in 1981, the Monarchs have qualified for state 19 times, with the 2013 qualifying by finishing 3rd in a tough A-4 district meet in Lincoln.  Sophomore Courtney Pickering led the district and state teams by placing 3rd at districts and 8th at state.  The team finished 8th at state, the highest place since the 1998 team.
