Enrollment at The University of Akron is on the rise! This fall, total enrollment is 15,318 — a 3.4% increase over 2024. We are also excited to share we recorded a large increase in the incoming class. The first-year, full-time (FYFT) cohort experienced a 9.7% increase over Fall 2024 and represents the largest incoming class since 2021, while admission standards still held strong with a 3.515 average GPA for enrolled students. Also notable is the number of students transferring to UA from other institutions. New transfer students increased by 10.97% at the Main Campus from 2024. We are happy to welcome all of these students into the Zips family and look forward to seeing them achieve great things on campus and after graduation.
Students can apply for the 2026-2027 academic year in just two easy steps:
Apply through UA’s website or the Common Application.
Have their official transcript sent to admissions@uakron.edu or via your favorite electronic document delivery service.
UA is a test-optional institution with no essay or application fee required. Students who apply as test-optional still receive full base merit scholarship consideration. Select programs like the Williams Honors College and direct admission consideration to the Nursing program do require test scores.
We will begin to release acceptance notifications the first week of October. We then will continue to make admissions decisions on a rolling basis throughout the rest of the academic year. More information on applying and other UA highlights can be found in the attached resource guide.
While you’re talking with your students about the importance of visiting campus during their college search process, please encourage students interested in UA to register for a visit at uakron.edu/visit.
We offer a variety of visit opportunities for students and their families to discover what UA has to offer, learn about the admissions process, financial aid and scholarships, tour campus, talk with our academic areas, and more!
We are excited to continue offering our students the AKRON ALL-IN Book Bundle program which provides enrolled students all textbooks, eTextbooks, lab manuals, and access codes required for their courses for a flat rate of $19.75 per credit hour.
Students can select to pick up their materials from the bookstore on campus, have them shipped to their home, or opt out of the program and secure course materials on their own. Since the bundle is charged to a student’s account, students can use any remaining financial aid and scholarships towards the cost of their bundle! Students can save 35-50% on the cost of course materials over their time at UA!
