On Monday 17 June 2024, PLC Sydney welcomed esteemed guests and community members to mark the official opening of the SkyPath Building—a milestone that celebrates the power of dedication, collaboration, and the unwavering support of the PLC Sydney P&F Association and our loyal donors.
The SkyPath project, initiated in 2022, involved the construction of six innovative Senior classrooms, seamlessly connecting the McQueen Science Labs to the Macindoe Research Centre via the Level 2 link bridge. This visionary development embodies PLC Sydney’s commitment to creating dynamic learning environments for our students.
The evening began with a stirring performance by the PLC Sydney Pipes and Drums, setting a festive tone as guests arrived at the SkyPath Building. Sarah McPhail (2024 School Captain), delivered an Acknowledgement of Country, followed by a warm welcome from Mrs Leah Russell (College Council Chairwoman), to distinguished guests, including The Honourable Jason Yat-Sen Li MP. Jio Yim (Year 11) captivated the audience with a recital of As Kingfishers Catch Fire, leading into Dr Paul Burgis’s overview of the SkyPath Project, highlighting its architectural and educational significance. The event’s highlight was the unveiling of the dedication plaque by Mr Li and Lisa Surian (P&F Association Vice President) with Mr Li noting, “Leaders of the future will learn in this building.” The evening concluded with a tour of the SkyPath Building, accompanied by a graceful performance from the PLC Sydney Harp Trio, as guests reflected on the building’s significance in PLC Sydney’s ongoing journey and our commitment to innovation and community engagement.
The SkyPath Building is more than just a new facility; it’s a testament to PLC Sydney’s ethos of collaboration, dedication, and generosity. This project also reaffirms our dedication to designing learning spaces that align with the latest research, fostering environments where both teaching and learning can thrive.
At PLC Sydney, we continue to create and enhance spaces that meet the evolving needs of our twenty-first-century learners, ensuring flexibility and excellence in education.
