Family
Family members trust each other and respect individual contributions on and off the field. We lean on each other and know we’ll be supported.
Commitment to One’s Role
Each team member is fully committed to understanding and accomplishing their role. Such as, marking your player, getting into an open passing lane, communicating on and off the field, and admitting mistakes and making necessary adjustments.
Knowing Your “Why”
We all bring with us a different “why”. Why field hockey? Why play in college? Why this school? Why show up every day? Although the individual “whys” may vary, they all are ultimately fueled by our passion for the sport and unite us as we strive to achieve shared goals.
Here and Now
A hockey game isn’t 60 minutes, it is 3600 seconds. On the field we must be present in each moment, taking with us only what is relevant, as we complete the next play. I think this value is reflected in my playing style as I often have a “one play at a time” attitude. I stay focused in the moment and do what needs to be done. I recognize an area for growth here as sometimes this intense focus can lead to tunnel vision. I am excited to continue building my strength of playing in the moment while also expanding my vision.
