1. I will treat other people the way I want to be treated.
2. I will commit myself to excellence in everything I do. This commitment includes the
following:
• I will strive to be the best I can be in the classroom as well as on the golf course.
• I understand that failing an academic course(s) may put me in jeopardy of disqualification from participating in a sport at PHS.
• I will conduct myself with class as a person as well as a player.
I WILL PRACTICE CIAC AND CT STATE GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING AND USE PPE (FACE MASKS)
• I will never take things that don’t belong to me.
• I will not use profanity or inappropriate language.
• I will not use drugs, alcohol or any form of tobacco.
• I will be on time to practice and matches wearing the correct uniform and attire.
• I will strive to be a complete player by taking the necessary repetitions and practice needed to execute the fundamentals of golf. I will do this consistently on a daily basis.
• I will contact the coach if I Must miss practice and always bring a signed note from a parent. Doctor, Teacher (etc.) if I attend tutoring, extra help and so on.
• I will accept constructive coaching to make myself a better player.
• I will be a student of the game. There is always something I can learn to improve my game.
• I will hold myself and other golfers responsible for following the rules of golf (USGA Rules) during practice and match play.
• I will avoid being overconfident. One of the greatest disservices that I can do to my teammates is to not respect the game or my opponent.
• I must read and sign the PHS Athletics Code of Conduct to be on the team.
If I must leave practice early, a parent/guardian must meet with my coach to assure I am safely getting home. I may drive myself to practices and home matches if I have transportation.
• I will bring beverages and snacks to have with me during practice or matches.
• I will practice positive thinking and work to improve my mental side of the game. Always imagine yourself being successful and it will happen.
• I will respect the game, its rules and my opponent. Throwing clubs, kicking your bag or using profanity only makes you look like you’re not in control of your game. This is a violation and a step towards being removed from the PHS golf program.
• I will obey the student code of conduct and understand there are consequences for not doing so.
• I understand that it is a privilege to be a member of this team.
• I will remain under control. I will not yell or disrespect my teammates, my coaches, my opponent, my teachers or my parents in any manner, including on and off the golf course, in school, social media and other areas of my life.
• I will demonstrate the character needed to have the discipline to follow team rules.
• I believe that the team is most important. We play an individual sport with a team concept. I will not put myself above the team.
• I understand that to be on this team, I must commit to attending all practices and matches required.
• I understand that I cannot have personal obligations that conflict with my participation as a member of the golf team. This includes work conflicts, school clubs and other conflicts of interest that would hinder my participation.
________________________________________________________________________
I understand that to be a member of the PHS Golf Team I must be willing to make these commitments to my teammates, my coaches, and myself.
I will accept my role on the team with a positive attitude whether I am the number 1 player, the number 5 player, or a non-varsity player. If I feel like I have been treated unfairly or am unhappy with my role on the team then I will discuss it with my team captain and head coach. I understand that if I violate any team rules, I will be subject to disciplinary action by my coach and or school. If I am unable to accept my role on the team and conduct myself as a team player, then I understand I will no longer have the privilege to be a member of the Plainville High School Girls Golf Team and will turn in all issued equipment to my coach.

• Be positive with your athlete. Let them know that they are accomplishing something by being part of a team.
I WILL PRACTICE CIAC AND CT STATE GUIDELINES FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING AND USE PPE (FACE MASKS)
• Do not offer excuses to your athlete if he/she is not playing. There is usually a reason for it. Encourage athletes to advocate for themselves.
• Do not criticize your athlete’s coach in front of your athlete. It will distort their perception of the coach and overall attitude toward playing.
• Always encourage your athlete to put forth their best effort.
• Insist on good grades all year long.
• Do not compare or contrast athletes with a family member who previously played. Each athlete is unique in his or her own way.
• Being a fan does not entitle you to be belligerent or abusive towards players, coaches, opponents, officials or your son/daughter. This type of behavior is embarrassing to your child, and may result in being prohibited at contests.
• Encourage your athlete to play for the love of the game and what participating in a sport teaches about life and adulthood. De-emphasize playing for scholarships or college admission.
• Keep the game in perspective and always be a role model of sportsmanship.
