Art with Mrs. Reed
About Mrs. Reed
I have been teaching Elementary Art for 13 years with most of my teaching experience taking place in Waterbury. I also have experience teaching in Avon, West Hartford and Tolland. I'm am happy to now be teaching here in Plainville, to the community in which I live.
On Wednesdays students can choose to come to the Art Room to use the Creation Station as a part of Makerspace. Creation Station is a center in the art room that allows students to create on their own and be original artists and inventors. Materials for use in the Creation Station are; popsicle sticks, looms, yarn, modeling clay, scissors, glue, assorted paper, how to draw books, tape, hole punchers...you get the idea! I'm impressed with the originality and creativity I have seen thus far.
This Year in Art
This year in art, all students Kindergarten through grade 5, will be learning about all different types of mediums including; sculpture, clay, paint, drawing, printmaking, collage and weaving. I try to tie in art history and art from other cultures to my lessons as often as I can. I will have a special focus on peer feedback this year to help students think critically about their own art as well as other's.
