Katrina Garrett | Elementary Director of Teaching and Learning
My name is Katrina Garrett and this is my 16th year in education and my 8th year in PISD. I have taught kindergarten, 3rd, 4th math, and 5th summer school. I have been the district instructional coach, elementary coordinator of teaching and learning, and most recently I have held the position as the Elementary Director of Teaching and Learning.
from Texas Tech with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. In 2015, I graduated with my master’s in Educational Leadership from Wayland Baptist University.
My husband, Layton, and I have two amazing children. Kannon and Laney light up our life. As a family, we enjoy doing anything outside.
Fun Fact: I performed at the half time show during the Hula Bowl when I was in high school.
My name is Jennifer Hughey and I am the Elementary Coordinator for teaching and learning. This is my first year in this new position. Prior to being a coordinator, I was an instructional coach at Thunderbird Elementary. My teaching background includes t 5th grade reading for one year, 5th grade math for one year, 1st grade for one year, 4th grade for one year, and kindergarten for 5 years.
I graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University with my bachelor’s in Education. Several years later I went back to school and received my master’s in Administration from Northern Arizona University.
My husband and I moved to Plainview 4 years ago when he accepted the position of assistant coach with the men’s basketball team for Wayland Baptist University. Since moving to Plainview, we have had two daughters, Remie and Ruthie. As a family, we love all things Wayland! Football, basketball, volleyball, and soccer are a few of our favorites!
Fun Fact: I have two metal rods in my back.
My name is Mandy Hunter. This is my twentieth year in education and my fifth year with Plainview ISD. I am currently serving as an instructional coach. I have previous experience teaching kindergarten, first grade, fourth grade, fifth grade, and deaf education.
I have attended Texas Tech University and have a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University.
I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and traveling.
Fun Fact: I broke a bone and reset it myself.
Jonathan Sandlin | Instructional Coach
My name is Jonathan Sandlin. This is my 15th year in education and my first with Plainview ISD. I taught elementary education and special education for 11 years in both Texas and New Mexico. The last three years I was an elementary assistant administrator in New Mexico. I am excited to be a part of the Plainview family.
I received my bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies at Stephen F. Austin State University and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
My wife and I have three young daughters, Galilee, Samaria, and Eden. When I'm not hanging out with family, I enjoy many outdoor activities such as running, mountain climbing, and camping.
Fun Fact: I started the first special needs class Morocco.
Janelle Styne | Instructional Coach
My name is Janelle Styne. This is my 14th year with Plainview ISD. Prior to being an instructional coach, I taught 3rd grade for 7 years, math specialist for 3 years, and an instructional coach at Highland Elementary for 3 years.
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in December of 2005 from Wayland Baptist University. In January of 2019, I graduated with my Master of Educational Leadership degree.
I am married to a wonderful man, Chris, and we have two beautiful girls, Marleigh Rose and Presleigh. Most weekends you will find us at a Texas Tech or Wayland Baptist University game!
Fun Fact: I went to therapy to learn how to sneeze correctly.
