Energy as Waves

Energy moves in waves. To illustrate this, the kids put together a chain of dominos and knocked them down and watched as each domino hit one another. Energy acts in the same way. One particle hits another and transfers the energy to its endpoint! Look at all of those smiles! :)

Energy Resources

8th graders have been discussing energy and all of its different forms. Check out these posters with all of the neat facts. Good work, kids.

PearDeck

In Google Slides, there is an Add-On called PearDeck. PearDeck is an interactive slide presentation where students can manipulate right on an iPad. Today, the kids were working on rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations of different shapes on a graph. Check out what these kids did!! So much better than doing it on a piece of paper! :)

S'MORES!!!

The 8th graders loved making their S'mores! They even made an extra for Tami! :)

1.10.2020 -- Today, the 8th graders discussed sequential order. They then created a word list to use for their writing on how to put things in order from beginning to end. Finally, they started their writing project on how to make a s'mores in sequential order. Tune back in on Monday for pictures on how the s'mores making process went.

Phases of the Moon

Have you ever wondered why the moon looks different from night to night? Did you know we only see one side of the moon? Did you know the moon's revolution around Earth and rotation is about 23.7 days?

The 8th graders have been having a blast learning about all of the phases of the moon by singing songs, taking notes, and forming the phases with Oreos!

7th Grade Reading

7th graders working with Doc Hub on Google Classroom to create posters for an online assignment. It's crazy how quickly these kids pick up on the use of technology. I can't wait to see what the future holds for them and the new advances to come!

Rockets (11.4.19)

Recently, we have started talking about Space. We have me discussing, researching, and watching a documentary about many different space missions. What better way to celebrate talking about space than making rockets and launching them! The 8th graders had a BLAST! (literally!)

BLAST OFF!

Paige's rocket got a little wet, so we just used her film canister, half a tablet of Alka-Seltzer, and some water to send this baby flying!

#SelfieNation

Ethan was in charge of the camera and videoing our experience.

Prisms

What is the only type of wavelength humans can see? Visible light. Prisms, take light and bend it so we can see all of the different colors that are a part of visible light. The kids took prisms and refracted the light. There were some pretty cool rainbows the wall that the kids colored.

Morrill Hall

What an awesome experience for the 8th graders. I have never done a virtual field trip on my own but this experience was off the charts. Jen, from Morrill Hall in Lincoln, NE connected with us and went through our fossil boxes and we talked about what Nebraska looked like millions of years ago up until recent time. We got to go on a tour of the museum and look at the fossils! Jen was great with her questioning and made the kids think! Hope to do this again in years to come!

Fossil Boxes

Before our Virtual Field Trip, we go the opportunity to dig for fossils from Morrill Hall! Talk about some cool stuff! Students had to work together to dig, draw, and identify each fossil. They make inferences and predictions as to where and when these fossils lived.
