Casting & Script
CAST & CREW
Introduction: Our musical comedy uses original dialogue from Shakespeare's play, but the modern music by Shaina Taub tells the majority of the story through song in familiar language. Auditions will last approximately 1 hour and will include individual reading, pair or group reading, singing, and movement.
Music: We strongly encourage you to listen to the recordings of the original cast performance in 2018 at the NY Public Theater available on Spotify, YouTube, and elsewhere. The "Music Sides" button below links to the sheet music for audition songs.
Scenes: To help you understand Shakespeare's language, there is a "translation" in blue on the right side. This is only for preparation, not for performing! You will use the black text to perform (left side).
Please sign up for one 1-hour slot to audition
Please choose at least 1 scene and 1 song for the audition.
Memorization is not required. You are, however, encouraged to prepare.
Actors will be taught a movement sequence in the audition for choreography.
Actors may be called back (if needed) on 1/19 after school. If you are not called back, it does not mean you didn't get a part or the part you want.
ALL students who want to be on stage will have the opportunity.
At auditions, students will fill out a form indicating their preference for acting, singing, choreography, size of role, and participation in crew (if desired). We cannot promise to meet all preferences but will take them in consideration.
