Zelda Spence
21st CCLC Project Director
Zelda Spence joined the Plainfield Cardinal team as a teacher at Maxson Middle School in 2002. Mrs. Spence loves working in Plainfield and is fully vested in the academic achievement, safety, and overall well being of all students, staff, and families in our community. A mother of five, Mrs. Spence knows what it takes to be a Team Mom and has even coached her children’s sports team — from cheer to basketball to football to baseball.
As the 21st CCLC Project Director and supervisor for all out-of-school time programs within the Plainfield Public School District, Mrs. Spence is responsible for supporting teachers to implement innovative learning experiences for Plainfield youth during non-school hours.
Reflecting on the value of servant leadership, Mrs. Spence believes QTN is a great opportunity for High School students to learn more about STEM related skills and apply them in a fun way that connects the school district to the Plainfield community. Her hope is that, through QTN, the students’ journalism and communication acumen is developed in a way that will lead some of them to pursue these fields as future careers. And hopefully, the students, staff, and the larger community of Plainfield will enjoy the QTN broadcast experience!
