STEAM-in-Residence Program at The Imagination Lab
We invite community members to share their expertise and stories with students in grades 2 through 5 at The Imagination Lab.
Our goal is to feature professionals and hobbyists whose work can offer distinctive learning opportunities and inspire students' future aspirations. While STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) is the foundation, we encourage anyone whose pursuit can spark inspiration to participate. Our ultimate goal is to bring "Joy to Learning" for students.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade participate in a 90-minute monthly "Odyssey." Through the STEAM-in-Residence program, you will present your career or hobby and explain your methods to an entire grade level (approximately 400 students) over a five-day period during one school week.
Program Details:
You will be provided with space to set up a temporary studio and exhibit your work.
You will cooperatively develop hands-on activities related to your craft with the Director of The Imagination Lab, which students will engage in.
Commitment: Availability is required for all five scheduled days for a single grade level within the designated month (e.g., if working with 2nd-grade students in March, you must be available for all five specific dates and times in March). It is possible to split the commitment over two months.
If your work will allow you to count this as volunteer time, we’d appreciate it. Otherwise, through the Friends of The Lab, a stipend of $500 is provided for each STEAM-in-Residence position.
