At Clarks Creek Elementary, "STEM curriculum" is integrated into every part of our day. From developing our computer science skills in all of the different content areas, to learning about employability skills in our Morning Meeting, all students have the opportunity to use STEM precepts to assist them in the work that they do all day long. In addition, students have the opportunity to "show what they know" in many different ways, as teachers use a variety of assessments to ascertain the level of student mastery on content taught.
Defined STEM, Project Lead the Way and the Imagination Lab are all tools and support for STEM integration and have been stepping stones to helping teachers become masters at incorporating STEM into the daily lessons they are creating for students. Teachers have become facilitators of learning and lean on community partners and experts to help offer instruction to students. Teachers are no longer the harbor of all knowledge, but seek out experts in a variety of fields to teach and support learning. Our curriculum has changed drastically in the last several years and we are excited to continue learning and growing as a STEM community at Clarks Creek Elementary School.
