Approximately 15 million students will be enrolled in high-school in the Fall of 2020, of which 45 percent will attend online, with an additional 48 percent not yet determined. Students across the nation need full access to experience both virtual and hands-on components of the PLTW Introduction to Engineering Design curriculum whether in a brick-and-mortar setting or via remote instruction. How can we provide a practical solution that aligns with the CDC Considerations for Schools, for an individual kit, that would facilitate PLTW curriculum and not require families to shoulder an additional financial burden for the procurement of hands-on materials?
In Element I, our group conducted prototype testing with two elementary-aged students as well as conducted some prototype testing through virtual methods using computer-aided design. We recorded our testing results and analyzed our data from the testing. In addition, our group pulled together our Critical Design Review presentation to summarize Elements E through I.
Though we didn’t present our Critical Design Review, we found it useful to compile our data and pull our thoughts together on what we had completed so far in the process. Possibly using the CDR to review with a buddy outside of our group or just practice through would help to create the upcoming final design presentation.
