I always knew that I would become a teacher “when I grew up.” As a Parkway North graduate, I am very proud to have come full circle having started my career at Parkway Southwest Middle School. I attended the University of Missouri-Columbia (Go Tigers!) and graduated in 2012 with my bachelor’s degree in Middle and Secondary English Education, and recently completed my Masters in Reading from Webster University. I can honestly say that my dreams have come true. I will be celebrating nine years of marriage this October with my husband (Marc), our two daughters (Leah & Harper), and our dog (Moose).
When I'm not teaching, I stay pretty busy at Southwest by coaching track in the Spring, riding my Peloton, going on adventures with my girls, and listening to all of the Taylor Swift music. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, spending time with my friends and family, going to the lake, and eating Italian food.
With eleven years of teaching under my belt, I look forward to the challenges and growth that this year brings. I know that all students learn material in a variety of ways and at different paces. As a result, my instruction is geared to the different learning styles and I often break our class up into small groups. My goal is to incorporate even more technology into my classroom to further differentiate instruction. I also believe that students must be passionate about the material that they are learning. Therefore, I want to build that curiosity every day in my instruction.
