My name is Kristen Evans. I am the Technology Teacher/Coordinator and Integration Specialist at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic and St. Boniface schools in Elgin, NE. I am very blessed to have a job where I learn and grow every day. I am looking forward to many insightful years and experiences.
My name is Kristen Evans. I am the Technology Teacher/Coordinator and Integration Specialist at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic and St. Boniface schools in Elgin, NE. I am very blessed to have a job where I learn and grow every day. I am looking forward to many insightful years and experiences.
I grew up on a farm northwest of Elgin and attended Elgin Public Schools K-12. My family consisted of my parents and an older sister, Stephanie. I never really ventured away from Northeast Nebraska. I love the "simple" life and enjoy being close to my family. My parents still live on the farm and my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew live close to Elgin. My husband's family also lives in the Elgin area. I am always amazed at how blessed I am. I was lucky enough to marry my best friend and love of my life, Jay. Jay has always worked in agriculture and still does. He started out working for a farmer and later decided to get into a truck full time. He had the opportunity to purchase his own truck and decided to give it a try hauling grain and livestock. After we found out our family of two would be expanding by one, in January 2013, he reconsidered being in the truck. Jay works at Central Valley Ag - Agronomy in Elgin. Right out of college, I was fortunate to find a job in my field of study. I ventured off to Walnut Middle School in Grand Island, NE and taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Family and Consumer Sciences. Being a homebody and missing my family, I found a job much closer to home at Norfolk Senior High. Here I also taught Family and Consumer Sciences, but to high schoolers. I taught at Norfolk Senior High for four years. While there, I was able to help out at many sporting events, coach Jr. High track, and become 8 to Great certified. Knowing that I wanted to get my Master's Degree, I started looking around. I talked to many people and finally decided to get my Master's in Media and Instructional Technology. This opened a few doors for me, allowing more job opportunities to arise. I applied for a Media Specialist position at Boone Central Schools in Albion, NE and was granted an opportunity to work there. I worked as the High School Media Specialist for two years and found myself missing parts of the classroom. An opening for the Elementary Media Specialist came about and I applied. I spent three years as the Elementary Media Specialist and LOVED every minute of it. I am enjoying my adventure at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic and St. Boniface. I am challenged daily and continue my learning and faith journey, while I am much closer to my family. My husband (Jay) and I live in Elgin. We have three children, Harper, Jackson, and Kayson. They are the light of our lives and keep us busy and entertained. We also have a dog, Harley. In my spare time I enjoy being outside, camping, trying to garden, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and reading.
