Elementary School

Each student's plan evolves a variety of learning experiences--both in and out of school-- that support employability skills, career awareness, exploration, planning and training. There are developmental goals and learning experiences planned for each grade level.

ACP Activities in 4K:

  • Whose Tools Are These?: Students will explore the various tools that can be used for both traditional and nontraditional careers.
  • Whose Vehicle Is This?: Students will explore the different vehicles associated with various traditional and nontraditional careers.
  • Whose Hat Is This?: Students will explore the different hats associated with various traditional and nontraditional careers.

ACP Activities in Kindergarten:

  • Listening With My Owl Ears: Students will practice listening with their whole body.
  • Paying Attention With My Owl Eyes: Students will practice paying attention in the classroom.
  • Working Quietly With My Owl Wings: Students will practice working quietly in the classroom.
  • Clothesline Clues For Jobs People Do: Students will explore the different clothes associated with various traditional and nontraditional careers.

ACP Activities in Grade 1:

  • P. Revere Penguin Always Tries: Students will practice trying their best, even when things are difficult.
  • P. Revere Penguin Is Ready to Listen: Students will practice listening with their whole body.
  • How Santa Got His Job: Students will understand how skills and past experiences can impact what they can do in the future.

ACP Activities in Grade 2:

  • GWC Checking Chipmunk Checks His Tracks: Students will practice checking over their work for mistakes.
  • GWC Checking Chipmunk Is Nuts About Goal Setting: Students will set a goal for themselves and decided when they should start working on a goal.
  • GWC Checking Chipmunk Sets Priorities: Students will learn how to decide which activities need to be done first and which can wait until later.
  • When I Grow Up: Students will complete a writing prompt about various community helpers.

ACP Activities in Grade 3:

  • Helen K. Honeybee Follows Directions: Students will learn the importance of following directions and potential consequences of not following directions.
  • Helen K. Honeybee Pays Attention: Students will work as a team to show how to pay attention.
  • Helen K. Honeybee Does Her Best: Students will understand how having a positive attitude will help them in school.
  • What Shoes Will You Wear?: Students will explore the different shoes associated with various traditional and nontraditional careers.
  • Forward Exam: Students will participate in the Forward Exam state assessment.

ACP Activities in Grade 4:

  • Goal Setting for Success: Students will learn about short and long term goal setting and set three goals for themselves with action steps.
  • Use Your TOES to Help With Homework: Students will understand how time management, organization, environment, and strategies can help with homework skills.
  • The Anti-Test Anxiety Society: Students will learn skills to help with test anxiety.
  • Career Exploration: Students will explore their career interests as they relate to six career clusters (agricultural sciences, communication arts, medical sciences, technical sciences, human services, and business services).
  • Forward Exam: Students will participate in the Forward Exam state assessment.

ACP Activities in Grade 5:

  • Goal Setting Flipbook: Students will identify the difference between a goal and dream. Students will identify one goal to accomplish during 5th grade and action steps for that goal.
  • Three Keys to Test Success: Students will learn how following directions, concentrating, and thinking can help when preparing for and taking a test.
  • Payday: Students will understand the correlation between careers, education level, and salary while playing a classroom-wide payday game.
  • Forward Exam: Students will participate in the Forward Exam state assessment.
